💻Really excited to see how developers use the new Terminal app on their Googlebook!
While this initial preview is aimed at supporting agentic development, the team is looking at expanding the Terminal's capabilities with features like Linux GUI app support in the app launcher & GPU/NPU hardware acceleration!
I'm especially excited for GPU/NPU acceleration. I think that'll unlock some fun capabilities 👀

Here is what’s rolling out starting today and how you can resolve some of the most common setup snags:
- Smoother first-time setup: A Google Play services update rolling out over the next few days reduces the steps needed to set up Cross-devices services. The update will also help improve certain timing issues where the setup QR code stays on the screen after completing phone setup.
- Samsung Galaxy phone support: Our Better Together features (Continue On, Cast My Apps, Quick Access, and Notification Sync) are arriving on Samsung phones running One UI 9.0 (Android 17).
These updates will roll out automatically over the next few days as Google Play updates and background service updates (fastest when connected to Wi-Fi and charging).

I’ve heard from many of you that while AI can make many images better, you also want to know when it’s been applied. That’s why we developed SynthID here at @Google, an invisible watermarking technology that embeds a digital watermark directly into AI-generated media (such as images, video, audio, and text). This marker is imperceptible to humans but detectable by special tools, allowing content to be identified as AI-generated even after modifications like cropping, filtering, or re-saving.
And now the SynthID Detector is now available to more people! Images created or edited with AI in @googlephotos include SynthID and this tool makes it easy to quickly upload those images and detect it.
You can also check if an image was edited or created with AI right in @googlephotos by swiping up when viewing a photo and scrolling down to the "How this was made" section of the info panel.
