It's emotionally taxing to have my book(s) banned. But not because they're my books, but because all I can think about is the message it sends to the Black kids who see themselves in my books. They deserve to have their stories told whether it makes you comfortable or not.

#BannedBooksWeek •We can stand up for the legacy of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who said: “Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.” Celebrate intellectual freedom. @FTRF @IFRT_ALA @OIF

#BannedBooksWeek is here! This week is an opportunity to celebrate our shared freedom to read while drawing attention to the harms of censorship. Find infographics, banned book lists, and coloring sheets at ala.org/bbooks/freedownloads.
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas gave me a heart-wrenching inside view of racism & police violence. What #BannedBook or #BannedAuthor is meaningful to you @FTRF @LibnOfCongress @maddow?

Yesterday, Trump was asked what he would have done differently to avoid the U.S. accounting for 30% of the world's COVID-19 cases. His response: "Well, nothing." The real answer: By acting earlier, he could have saved tens of thousands of lives. nytimes.com/2020/05/20/us/co…
