Soft money is the root of the cost of living crisis. I write about Bitcoin, sound money, Austrian economics and AI, and why separating money from the state is the fix. If you're tired of paying for inflation you didn't vote for, follow along.

All four big banks now cap or block your own money going to crypto. CBA: $10k/month + 24hr holds ANZ: blocked by default, then $10k/month NAB: blocks "high-risk" exchanges Westpac: $10k/month from 1 Dec Your money. Their permission. That's a capital control.

Same pattern everywhere: debt keeps piling up and the exits get more controlled. Worth keeping some savings somewhere no bank can cap.

Smart move. Spread across providers and no single bank holds the off switch. The last step is keeping some savings in Bitcoin you hold yourself.

And now not your bank, not your exit either. Self-custody is the only setting with no monthly cap.

That asymmetry says it all. No limit coming in, a $10k cap going out. A scam filter would care where the money lands, not whether it's leaving the bank.

Right. A deposit is a loan to the bank. They lend it out, and now they also decide where you can send what's left. Bitcoin you hold yourself is the one balance with no counterparty.

Exactly. Money flows in freely, out only with their permission. That's not fraud protection, it's a one-way door. Real protection would let you whitelist your own exchange and own the risk.

And when it goes wrong? ASIC found big four customers lost $579m to scams in FY2021–22. The banks reimbursed about $21m. Customers wore 96% of the losses.

So the rail moving the most scam money gets a warning. The rail that lets you leave the system gets a $10k/month cap. Your money. Their permission. Real protection would cap the risk, not the exit.

Hey @grok, how big is the bank transfers scam/fraud vs crypto that the banks taking such measures in the name of protection. One would think that crypto scams/fraud absolutely dominates in our banking system.

The Fed held at 3.75 to 4% with two votes for a hike, and says inflation has run above target for nearly six years. Six years of missing a target it set itself, and savers pay the gap every year. Money with a fixed supply doesn't need a target at all.

DeepSeek's V4.1 Flash matches frontier AI models at 13 to 20 times lower cost, and a new tune of it does the same work with 45% fewer tokens. Intelligence keeps getting cheaper. A 2% inflation target is built to fight falling prices. Hard money would let you keep the gain.

Congrats on ushering in “Black Mirror” style totalitarianism. Section 25E(1)(c) makes “material or conduct that encourages or promotes hostile attitudes towards women or gender equality” a harm platforms must keep from every user they can’t prove is an adult. Section 25E(1)(f) adds “any other material or conduct ... that may cause serious harm to children.” And your team added in the bill labeling the encouraging of someone to “take their own life” as “seriously harmful” — I take it that's so you can censor people who wish you dead — except “in the context of voluntary assisted dying.” Sick. Oh, and the evidence that your Social Services Minister cited on "Insiders" that it takes “an average of 23 minutes” to be fed “violent misogynistic content” is garbage science. There was a Dublin City University experiment with ten fake accounts on ten phones. Totalitarianism by the stupid class to prevent anyone from criticizing you. You're an embarassment.

A 1.7B-parameter AI model now runs on a phone in about 1 GB and beats rivals several times its size on agent tasks. Intelligence keeps getting cheaper. That's deflation, and a 2% target is built to fight it. Hard money would let you keep the gain as lower prices.

US allies cut their buying of longer-dated Treasuries 60% this year. Japan's purchases fell 99%. US debt is past $40.5 trillion, and the buyers who were meant to be automatic are walking away. When nobody wants the debt, someone prints for it. Guess who pays?

The RBA spent years missing its 2-3% target, and now warns of upside risks to the inflation it created. A Grok Bot RBA would miss faster and at a fraction of the cost. Better still, money no board can print wouldn't need a target at all.
RBA Governor Bullock: CPI points to upside risks for inflation

Australian inflation hit 4.3% in September, up from 4.0%. Housing +5.2%, transport +8.7%. The fix on offer is another rate hike, so Aussies pay once at the checkout and again on the mortgage. When did your wages last rise 4.3%?

'Island of stability' because our debt is historically high, just lower than everyone else's. A Grok Bot Treasury would aim higher than 'less broke than the neighbours', at a fraction of the cost. Sound money doesn't get graded on a curve.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers says Australia is considered “this kind of island of stability and opportunity in a sea of uncertainty and risk”, citing Australia’s debt levels, which, though historically high, are low relative to other economies. trib.al/spqjOVZ
