Stevens Mill, Burwell, Cambs. The external walls of stone (clunch), plastered (lime) and tarred

And a new stone has appeared
Under repair: the gates to River Court, Magdalene College, Cambridge (directly opposite the Pickerel pub)
Interesting that they appear to using a pulley to lift the stones

Wondering what's in a Cambridge sandwich?

I had to make a detour to say hello
William Wootton 1712, aged 70 years and wife Alice 1713, 67 years. Unable to find a connection with Chesterton, Cambridge, the church or the colleges; perhaps just regular parishioners
The annual carrot chomping competition was well underway when we arrived at St Andrew's, Chesterton, Cambridge.

The building was originally part of The First Eastern General military hospital, now the site of the University Library; later it was used as a church in Chesterton, before relocation to Ditton Lane
Lined below is a short film about the hospital

Trinity Lane. For me this is peak Cambridge: narrow street lined with eaves fronted buildings creating a strong sense of enclosure. Ridges run parallel to the street, the eaves interrupted by gatehouses & large chimney stacks, typically roofs topped with dormers

An alabaster monument to the south aisle of St Peter's Church, Offord D'Arcy remembers Richard Nailour (Naylor) along with his two wifes & children; a clerk of king's chancery, Nailour purchased the manor of Offord D'Arcy in 1606, died 1616
