"There are standards here. There is a way that we play."
When the coach holds players accountable, it’s a rule.
When players hold each other accountable, it’s the standard.
"That's the goal as hitting coaches, to get guys to believe in themselves because you're not always going to feel great."

You have to wonder if this World Series is going to bring upon a reimagining of roster building in MLB. Speed. Defense. Situational execution. The value of a single run. Been an awfully fun product to watch these first two games.

BIZARRE THINKING
I’m not sure with Simpson’s running speed & his ability to control the speed & direction of his bunts, that with runners on 1B & 2B that you don’t have a better chance of gambling with some type of rotation bunt defense to get the force at 3B.

NLCS MVP Jake Bauers shares how letting go of results helped him find a different level of freedom as a competitor.
"I think what changed for me this year was I stopped caring about results. I started caring about competing. I started caring about being in the moment and getting out of my own way."
Sometimes, the biggest obstacle to performing at your best isn't a lack of preparation or ability.
It's the pressure you place on yourself to produce a particular outcome.
You become so concerned with what you want to happen that you lose touch with what the moment actually requires.
Any performer can unlock a new level when they learn how to be fully invested in the competition without becoming imprisoned by the outcome.

Mindset of a Hitter: At a certain point, you got to make that switch mentally in your mind: I'm not going to lose a f**king pitch today.
I don't care who's on the mound.
I don't care what happened yesterday.
We can talk till we're blue in the face about mechanics, swing path, mindset, vertical barrel, setup, and all these different things.
You have to mentally make a CHOICE
I'm not losing a pitch.
I'm going to war with the mechanics I got.
I'm good enough because I write it down, because I believe it.
I got enough to win right now, and that's all I need.
At a certain point, I just go up in there and I compete.
A competitive, gritty mindset that refuses to lose a pitch, even when you know you don't feel your best mechanically and something's off: you just refuse to be late all day and just see what happens.
If you continue to go up there and, "Oh, I don't know, I'm feeling for it, man," feelings will get you killed.
Feelings will get you killed. You got to make a choice: I'm not losing a pitch today, and if I do lose one, f**k it, I'm not losing the next one.
Over and over and over and over again.
This is a mindset that you make before you get to the field.
Every single day, you have to make a choice to kill the mediocre, passive version of you.
I know there's a combination of "I'm enough, I got what it takes," yes, self-compassion, gratitude, absolutely.
I am so thankful for this day.
Now let's go kill whatever I got in front of me.
That's what it takes.
