There are those who believe MiSTer is about recreating hardware in FPGA using reverse engineering, aiming to be identical or as close to the original hardware as possible. Then there are those who believe it's an open-source project, and people should be free to do what they want with it, even if that means running software emulation directly on the MiSTer. And then there are those who believe both approaches can coexist, and it's ultimately down to personal choice. Everyone in the scene has their own angle, myself included.
