My jaw kept dropping hearing how many people, including notable reporters, got canned by Bell. Layoffs are always brutal. But what kills me most is that there are ever-fewer investigative teams and seasoned journalists holding power to account in Canada. That should worry us all.

I don't know, I didn't go to big business school, but i don't think "fire all the best writers we have" is a real good long term plan on the "save newspaper" vision board.

I’ve had three clients this week asking to extend their time in custody. The extreme housing crisis, fear of dangerous drugs on the street and general lack of resources, it’s all real. And a terrible indictment of society when the best people can do is jail.
