A compassionate lens helps you see the functional in what people call dysfunctional. #behavioranalysis #abachat
I'm curious abt the role of counter-control in organizations when confronted with an idea to #makeshifthappen. I think I experienced some of this when trying to embody Universal Protocols as a recommendation. I have a chance for a re-do in the Fall and hoping to make more stick.
Anybody doing research in this area? In all the times I recommended Universal Protocols, I had a group that seemed to struggle to make the shift and instead they hunkered down on their "bmod" ways. They really disliked Universal Protocols but I think it was something else.

Hello Twittersphere 👋 I've missed you and the #behavioranalysis discussions we have here. It's been a tough couple of years being in public education, staying afloat during staff shortages, trying to keep hope for behaviour change alive.
The intersection b/w my own therapy where I've been unpacking my own story and how I practice professionally resulted in a lot of a-ha moments. I started to think more abt my values and the lived experiences of others. Where I had a fixed belief, I tried to be more dynamic.

THIS IS FOR YOU IF:
* You are responsible for record keeping for children
* You are looking to develop a deeper embodied understanding
* You want to consider and embrace record keeping as having the potential for intergenerational and ancestral healing

Last night I awoke with imposter syndrome panic. "I'm in over my head. My behaviour plans suck. I'm making terrible recommendations. Who do I think I am?" 🙀
10 years in #onted; almost 10 years before that doing community-based behaviour consultation.
12 years of doing this!?!? #MyTwitterAnniversary
This would be me at my work. I visit multiple classrooms in a week and there's at least one with a box of doughnuts brought in for staff.

A big milestone met today on our Skills-Based Treatment journey. We had an unplanned "No" unable to find the toy a student requested.
"That's okay" they said and asked for something else.
You bet they got some bonus reinforcement!
Had a go today using the Enhanced Choice Model with a student. They can choose to come to session to practice skills they are working on, "hangout" with staff with access to things and experiences they like or "chill"in the classroom.
But we're learning from our students they want to "yearn and earn". Six out of 7 times the student chose "practice": tolerating instructions, prompts, delays in reinforcement etc. In 2 of the 6 practice sessions the student asked to return to hangout after a couple goes.
