Had a great time presenting at @AcadPedPT conference in Providence, RI. Proud of the work Madison Filipkowski & Emily Stevens completed during their residency Nationwide Children's Hospital. Wouldn’t be possible without residency director, Lori Grisez. What a wonderful team!

A different type of hand-on-the-door doctor story:
Recently a #sicklecellwarrior was admitted for pain. She was new to me & when I checked on her in the afternoon we talked about school, friends, tik tok. Not medicine. A few moments of calm during a busy week as a new attending

‘Future research should build upon existing work to address the limited availability of mobility measures validated in [the AYA] population.’
There’s a paucity of outcome measures across all domains (rehab, social/emotional, financial) unique to AYAs. Let’s keep working.

Starting today, all newborns in the state of Ohio will be screened for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which is typically not identified until 3-5 years old. Grateful for the decades of work and progress that led to this moment and to get to be a small part of the future!
Ohio will be the first state to screen all babies for #Duchenne! More than 129,000 babies are born in Ohio every year, and the state expects to identify 35 babies with Duchenne annually. Learn more: parentprojectmd.org/ohio-to-…

I love when advocacy works
Absolutely thrilled to hear that @usnews rankings will FINALLY include #SickleCell metrics to create transparency and accountability
(For the record, overall I still think these rankings are dumb & problematic)
