Massive shout out to our LD nurses in Hampshire for promoting this fabulous career. Only reason it’s noted as anonymous is there were too many contributors 💜 thank-you all

Read about why #GP surgeries should have more learning disability nurses working in them and why more students would benefit from practice placements in them too @denise_pod @nursemaggi @SAF_Health @edgehill @RichieJW86 @JackieALeigh @galley_emma journals.rcni.com/learning-d…

LD Nurses in GP surgeries would enable access to primary care and is desperately need. However, the LD Nursing workforce has almost halved, and several universities have withdrawn programmes. Gov action is needed now to prevent avoidable deaths @wesstreeting

NHS England have published a leaflet about the GP (doctor) Learning Disability Register. It helps people think about whether their child or someone they care for, could have a learning disability. There are plain English, easy read versions. See link below england.nhs.uk/publication/f…

It's an injustice that at some hospitals, people will have the benefit of specialist LD Nurses while at others, we hope for the best. Hospitals wouldn't dream of supporting cardiac patients without cardiac specialist... @MoncktonR something for the next discussion? #SaveRNLDs
Nearly a third of English NHS trusts do not have a learning disability liaison service employing a registered learning disability nurse as our #FOI investigation found @RCNi_Anita. Reverse this workforce gap and inequality and outcomes might just improve. rcni.com/learning-disability…

The NHS Long term plan highlights the need to double RNLD workforce to reduce inequalities & premature deaths. @NandM_Keele have withdrawn their Learning Disability Nurse programme. I do worry about the consequenses @PegisStoke @PaulaMc007 @mencap_charity @JonathanBeebee

Tragic. The problem representing marginalised groups, is the masses don't know of your existence. If people don't know, how can they aspire to join us? We urgently need a national campaign to showcase what a rewarding career RNLD offers & routes available into the profession.
I haven't seen the UCAS data released today but we analysed the previous results & saw a 33% drop in applicants since 2015. If you go from the bottom right of England to top left just 5 applicants in south east, 90 in NW. dire across south & east England rcn.org.uk/news-and-events/P…

Sad to read decline in numbers for learning disability nursing. This is such a rewarding field of nursing with many career opportunities. We need people to know what we do as learning disability nurses and the difference we make in the lives of people with learning disabilities

Another report emphasising the workforce challenges for learning disability nursing. Radical change is needed for both recruitment in to the profession and retention.

Please could I encourage people to sign this petition. My daughter played with a number of the girls affected by this situation and we are still friends with many of the girls & families affected. Each player has made huge sacrifices to get to this level and they need our support
