The GRU hacked into Jared Kushner's iPhone. Dutch military intelligence (MIVD) then recruited a GRU spy who gave them access to the hacked phone. What MIVD discovered was that Kushner had access to two bank accounts --one Azerbaijani, the other Israeli --where Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati ruler Mohammed bin Zayed deposited money. It sounds like a slightly far-fetched episode of "Slow Horses," but it's real. And it proves just how eye-poppingly corrupt this administration was and continues to be as its "special envoy" decides the fate of tens of millions in Europe in the Middle East. Simply incredible reporting by Matthew Cole, drawn from his new book on Kushner. vanityfair.com/story/jared-k…

🇫🇷 The 10-year French OAT bond yield hit 5%, highest since 2002. A symbolic threshold, yet unless global rates come down because of oil or AI, in France it's more likely to get worse before it gets better.

I agree with Jens : the issue and bearish take I'm hearing from clients (*doesn't mean i agree*) is this: ultimately if needed ECB steps in but that has to come with conditions. Some countries accepted them, yesterday shows France won't.
I will comment on the French news only from a market perspective. It is rare that markets respond to news of this kind, as it is generally viewed as temporary and not enough to ultimately move the economy BUT: - This could move politics, and impact voting into the crucial elections in 2017 (further away from the center). - These riots are so severe that there may be an impact via a/ lower tourism, b/ lower business/consumer confidence - OAT spreads widened to 140bp in Sep (on levered selling), but we have seen some consolidation in Oct (as real money is watching, but have not reduced yet). The images from this weekend, will not make real money more comfortable.
