There has been either an inadvertent or deliberate effort in Spain to focus attention on an individual rather than on management or ministerial failures (such as the failure to complete LZB replacement on this line).
Human error is always a symptom and never a cause.

Hello @elonmusk and @tylercowen ,
You have just decided to publicly attack our research, six days before the vote on the California billionaire wealth tax.
Your attempt to discredit our work and that of our numerous academic colleagues is pathetic.
Let’s take a look. 🧵

New from me: The US has faced a higher cost than any other country from the global Hormuz oil shock, with the crisis adding $160 billion to its fuel bill — or $471 per person on average — despite being the world’s largest oil producer.

“Let me die,” American photojournalist Heidi Levine repeats to journalists Jasper Nathaniel as they try to outrun masked Israeli settlers who attacked her on Friday while she covered the olive harvest in the West Bank village of Abu Falah, near Ramallah.
Around 80 settlers attacked Palestinian olive harvesters in the village, AP reported. The Palestinian Red Crescent said it treated six people injured in two attacks in Abu Falah.
Levine, a freelancer for the Washington Post, told the Committee to Protect Journalists that the settlers knocked her down and kicked her for at least 10 minutes, even after she identified herself as an American journalist. They stole her camera, phone and bag. She was eventually taken to a hospital in Ramallah.
"The IDF provided cover, with tear gas and machine guns, while the settlers beat" Levine "nearly to death," Nathaniel wrote, adding that soldiers then shot a Palestinian bystander and aimed their guns at and shoved paramedics trying to treat him. AP photos and circulating videos show Israeli soldiers standing over a wounded Palestinian man after they shot him.
Andrey X, an activist also at the scene, said a Palestinian man "saved our lives from the settler-terrorists who attacked the olive harvesters and journalists” armed only with a slingshot.

This is not exactly my idea. This is better. The Iranians have designed their compellence plan as a deterrence plan:
IF YOU KEEP UP CAT AND MOUSE, we're gonna hit your bases.
But the underlying diagnosis is the same. They have lost the Battle of Hormuz. And therefore they must find another channel of cost-imposition.
From what I can tell the escalation is designed correctly. Now they have escaped their strategic incoherence. This can work.
The ball's in the US court. And I am not long enough.

A colleague asked me today if Israel ever came close to a military coup. Looks like we might heading into a variety of one just now.
🚨The sortie involved dozens of Israeli fighter jets and refueling aircraft, the sources said
🚨It followed a flight path consistent with a potential strike against Iran, passing through Syrian and Iraqi airspace
🚨As the aircraft approached the Iranian border, they turned around and returned to Israel, the sources said
