Bowling Green State University was proud to host today’s Advanced Manufacturing Summit!
Thank you to @RAugsburgerOMA, president of the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association (@OHIOMFG), for moderating today’s leadership panel and announcing Bowling Green’s designation as a Gold Star institution in the OMA’s inaugural Workforce Training Directory. We are one of only three public universities in Ohio to earn the highest distinction, which recognizes our commitment to preparing students for careers in an industry vital to Ohio’s economy.
As a public university for the public good and as an anchor institution in our state, we are committed to partnering with industry, educators and communities to build a strong workforce and a thriving Ohio. Thank you to the manufacturers, students, educators, workforce partners and regional leaders who joined us to explore the future of advanced manufacturing. With Ohio ranking third in the nation for manufacturing jobs, this work matters.

ALT A group of people are gathered in a conference setting, engaging in conversation. One individual in the center is holding a cup of coffee, wearing a lanyard with branding, possibly from an event or organization. The room is well-lit with chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, and people are visible in the background, suggesting a networking or social event.

Bowling Green State University mourns the passing of one of our most recognized and celebrated alumni, Academy Award and Emmy Award winner and legendary actress, Eva Marie Saint ‘46, ‘82 (Hon.). As a student, Eva Marie demonstrated what was possible at a university like Bowling Green, exploring career paths and discovering a talent for acting while at BGSU.
With a legendary career that spanned an incredible seven decades, Eva Marie created a lasting legacy in the entertainment industry. Even with international acclaim, she remained kind, humble and grounded, never forgetting the people, places and priorities that shaped who she was and what she valued most.
We are grateful for Eva Marie’s wisdom and unwavering support of Bowling Green State University throughout her distinguished career. She remained engaged with her alma mater for decades, and it was the University’s great honor to award Eva Marie with an honorary doctorate of performing arts in 1982, and later, a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018. Today, and in all the years to follow, our students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community will visit the Eva Marie Saint Theatre in the Wolfe Centre for the Arts, named in honor of Eva Marie, a distinguished alumna.
On a personal note, Sandy and I deeply enjoyed Eva Marie’s humor, humility and elegance, and will forever cherish our time with her. We send our deepest sympathies to Eva Marie’s family, especially her children, and her many loved ones. Hollywood, and Bowling Green, Ohio, are dimmer tonight.

Their contributions to their industries and communities have created tremendous public good, and together they remind us of the impact of our alumni, graduates of a public university for the public good.

On this Labor Day, we reflect with gratitude on what makes the Bowling Green experience so special, evident these last few weeks on our campuses: An incredible marching band and spirit programs. Athletic teams that never quit. Students showing up, in force, for each other and for Bowling Green. Connecting with one another, learning from one another and building community with one another. And having a little fun along the way! When students choose @BGSU, they get one of the best educational experiences in the nation. That means in the classroom, of course, but also the community we build together. We might not have the biggest endowment and we’re not the oldest university. What we are is a hard-working university that has long punched above its weight, setting the standard for what a 21st century public university should be. Our students are absolutely prepared for a great career and great life. To the faculty and staff who create this learning community: thank you. You’ve made Bowling Green a place that proves what higher education can be. To our students, your commitment to Bowling Green and to each other is what makes us who we are. We are so proud.

Bowling Green loves its band! It was a great evening, as the @BG_Football team surprised the Falcon Marching Band with new @BGSUFMB10 backpacks, donated by @BGSU alumni and Falcon Flames Mike and Jan Wilcox. What a great example of how the Falcon community always shows up for each other. We can’t wait for both groups of students to take the field this Saturday at the Doyt for the first home football game of the season. Tailgating starts at 9:30 a.m. Ay Ziggy!
