Paxos Labs co-founder Bhau Kotecha (@bhau___) told AlphaWire that stablecoin fragmentation is more likely to be solved by technology than global regulatory coordination.
His view: the market will not have hundreds of dominant stablecoins, but a handful of globally accepted ones with a long tail for specific ecosystems.
The real problem is moving between them.
@paxoslabs is building Transit, a stablecoin conversion layer that went live on Robinhood Chain and moved nearly $30M in two weeks.
Kotecha says tokenized assets only become useful when they are liquid, accessible, and easy to move between.
“You can issue the token, but if it’s not liquid and accessible on chain, there’s not an ability for it to have utility.”

Spent last week @thestablecon conference in DC. The primary trend I noticed: platforms building the B2B "stablecoin sandwich" are realizing that customers want to support multiple stablecoins, not just one, and that they should abstract away that complexity from end users.
The more I dig into B2B and cross-border flows, the more it feels like liquid, non-USD stablecoins unlock real efficiency.
Who builds the next wave of tokenized currencies and makes them easily swappable against the major USD stablecoins? Onchain FX feels inevitable.
