Flashback 20 yrs ago when I launched my 1st tech watch (an activity monitor for swimmers) at the IronMan World Triathlon Championship.
Let me fix that tweet for you:
1. The people rioting in Paris are criminals who are committing crimes.
2. Destroying hard-working people’s businesses is evil and not a valid form of protest.
From the high schools of France to the streets of Madrid to the universities of Tirana, young people are telling their governments the same thing: in an age of massive wealth inequality, they want a future they can believe in.
In France, students and teachers are asking for safe schools, enough teachers and smaller classes.
In Spain, for affordable rent and housing.
In Albania, for good jobs and an end to corruption.
@JDVance says this is what happens when a nation lets in too many immigrants from the global south.
He is not just morally wrong, but misreading the moment.
The is what happens when nations let wealth and power accumulate in the hands of a few.
This is what happens when young people lose hope in their future.
In America, let us listen to our young.
We need an economic and political transformation.
America's Next New Deal.

Thank you, Elon Musk for inspiring the world once again and for achieving so many amazing products and solutions where others are not brave enough to even try. You continually capture the imagination of young people and adults all over the world - and now with your amazing quest to solve hybrid, flying transportation it’s again nothing less than spectacular.
My view is that It’s unfortunate that so many self-proclaimed deep compassionate thinkers’ own vision is held captive by their political leanings. I feel sad that so many can’t enjoy, celebrate and be inspired by the tremendous work of you and your extraordinary engineers. You continually innovate solutions and technology paths in areas where the weight of entire countries could not begin to understand or achieve.
People sadly continually fail to understand the tremendous asymmetrical learnings, in the details, from the development of your products that apply to many other applications - yes, for the good of man and the spirit of man.
Superhero innovation, as actually demonstrated by the leadership of you Elon Musk, is often wrongly interpreted as unnecessary or a waste of money. They simply do not understand or recognize the power of inspiration to stimulate forward the passionate human journey of innovation. Not the least of which starts by simply stimulating kids and adults to actually learn and be personally successful again - like those of my era growing up with the dream of space travel and going to the moon.
I miss when we admired those that work with tremendous focus. Those unstoppable builders are driving progress forward and inspiring teams to work hard and smart and become successful themselves. All while also hiring so many more talented professionals and creating thousands of jobs.
I became a designer decades ago to chase my own dreams of the future. Thank you again Elon for the inspiring results and spectacular achievements with what you dare to dream.

Maybe it would be a good thing to spend more time acknowledging their enormous generosity towards our children and grandchildren rather than critiquing her appearance! 🤷🏼♂️
They provided $250 for 25 million American children! 🙏👏👏
I AM BLOWN AWAY!!!
Blown away by the staggering, unprecedented, inconceivable, generosity of Michael and Susan Dell towards the Trump accounts!

Total Amount: $6.25 billion
Per-Child Grant: $250 deposited directly into each eligible child's account. Roughly 25 million children born between 2016 and 2024 (ages 10 and under).

Ken Griffin made a $3 BILLION gift to Carnegie Mellon University, the largest individual gift in American higher education history and for a Miami, Florida campus!!!
And the centerpiece is extraordinary:
$2 BILLION to build a new 35-acre Carnegie Mellon campus in Miami.
CMU Miami is expected to ultimately serve 3,500+ students, nearly 300 faculty and 600+ staff, with graduate students arriving as early as 2028.
For those who don’t know @CarnegieMellon
Carnegie Mellon is one of the great technology universities on Earth.
Computer science.
Artificial intelligence.
Robotics.
Engineering.
Design.
Advanced manufacturing.
CMU has spent decades sitting at the intersection of science + technology + entrepreneurship + the real economy.
And that’s why this matters so much.
Miami’s next chapter cannot simply be measured by how many companies relocate here.
The real measure is whether we build the institutions that continuously produce talent, research, intellectual property, founders and entirely new industries.
CMU Miami can become one of those institutions.
The planned campus will focus on enormous real-world challenges including AI, human health, national security, energy, climate resilience and industrial innovation, with research labs and venture studios designed to connect academia, industry and government.
Think about the economic flywheel this can create:
Talent → Research → IP → Startups → Venture Capital → Companies → Jobs → More Talent.
And this doesn’t happen in isolation.
Miami already has extraordinary higher-ed anchors.
@univmiami brings world-class research, medicine and scholarship.
@FIU has become one of America’s most consequential large public research universities and an enormous engine of upward mobility and talent.
@MDCollege is arguably one of the most important workforce and access institutions anywhere in the country.
CMU doesn’t replace that ecosystem.
It makes the ecosystem more powerful.
Imagine the collaborations.
Joint research.
Faculty networks.
Shared talent.
Startup formation.
Industry partnerships.
National-security innovation.
AI commercialization.
Students moving between classrooms, laboratories, companies and venture studios across South Florida.
That is how regional economies compound.
And we should also acknowledge something important:
This will be a journey.
Buildings don’t create innovation ecosystems.
People do.
It will take years of recruiting extraordinary faculty, attracting students, connecting with existing institutions, earning trust in the community and translating research into companies and jobs.
But today the ceiling of what Miami can become just moved higher.
For years we’ve talked and worked on Miami becoming one of the world’s great centers for technology, entrepreneurship and innovation.
Increasingly, the institutional infrastructure is catching up with the ambition.
And perhaps the most exciting part:
This isn’t simply a Miami story.
It’s a Florida story.
A world-class technology university planting a major flag here strengthens Florida’s ability to compete for the scientists, engineers, founders, companies and industries that will define the next 50 years.
Capital moves fast.
Companies move fast.
But universities build civilizations.
CMU coming to Miami is a very, very big deal.
For my swimmer friends who track workouts on a smartwatch:
I asked Meta's Muse AI to make sense of my 2026. My Apple Watch recorded 166 workouts this year — every lap, every lift — and told me nothing about the bigger picture. The watch collects; it never explains.
So I ran the same four moves businesses use on their data — extract, aggregate, join, visualize — on myself. One page, my whole season: 75 miles swum, 46,738 stroke cycles, 27 hours of strength training.
All I did was ask questions over coffee on a Sunday morning. No spreadsheets, no exports, no code.

1. We will keep accelerating. Our AI efforts are only 3 years old, vs 6 and 10 years old for Anthropic and OpenAI. If our second derivative remains strong, SpaceX will reach pole position in about 6 months.
2. Once you far exceed the caliber of intelligence needed for a class of tasks, additional intelligence is pointless. You don’t need (and it would be cruel to put) Newton-level intelligence in your toaster!
3. Hardware is hard. Bringing massive compute online rapidly is incredibly difficult. SpaceX has demonstrated exceptional ability in this regard and will only get better.

The CEO of Dell @MichaelDell just dropped 500 bucks total for my two kids (my third already got the $1000 to start) in their Trump Accounts. I want to write him a thank you note, but it’s not like I have his address to send it to of course.
That’s a real patriotic move. He’s helping out a lot of people who don’t have much in America and I think it’s going to really add up by the time my kids are 18.
Dell’s stock price is way up since he did this. Nice to see. Once again, I remind the Earth: billionaires have never once made my life worse. The bottom 10% however…

I reread this every year.
I cry like a baby every year.
Todd Beamer died a father, husband, and hero.
Todd: Hello… Operator… listen to me. I can’t speak very loud. This is an emergency. I’m a passenger on a United flight to San Francisco. Our plane has been hijacked.
Lisa: I understand. Can they see you?
Todd: No. There are three that we know of. They have knives — razor knives, like box cutters. Someone announced from the cockpit there was a bomb. It sounded fake.
Lisa: Your name?Todd: Todd Beamer. United Flight 93.Todd: They killed one passenger in first class. They forced most of us back. Fourteen of us here. Five flight attendants. The guy with the bomb ordered us to sit on the floor.
Lisa: Are you okay?
Todd: We’re going down… wait. No. We’re leveling off. We changed directions. We’re flying east again.
Todd: A guy named Jeremy called his wife. She told him two planes hit the World Trade Center. Lisa, is that true?
Lisa: I have to tell you the truth. It’s very bad. Both towers are gone. A third plane hit the Pentagon. Our country is under attack. I’m afraid your plane may be part of their plan.
Todd: Oh God. Lisa, will you do something for me? Call my wife and my kids. Promise me you’ll call.
Lisa: I promise.
Todd: Our home number is… You have the same name as my wife. Lisa. We’ve been married ten years. She’s pregnant with our third child. Tell her I love her. I’ll always love her. We have two boys — David, he’s 3, and Andrew, he’s 1. Tell them their daddy loves them and he is so proud of them. The baby is due January 12th. I saw an ultrasound. We still don’t know if it’s a girl or a boy.
Lisa: I’ll tell them. I promise, Todd.(Lisa patches in the FBI.)
Agent: Todd, your plane is on a course for Washington. Best guess is the White House or the Capitol.
Todd: I understand. I’ll be back.
Todd: Everyone knows this isn’t a normal hijacking. We have decided we will not be pawns in their plot.
Lisa: What are you going to do?
Todd: Four of us are going to rush the one with the bomb. Then the cockpit. A stewardess is getting boiling water. We’ll take them out.
Todd: Would you pray with me?They pray the Lord’s Prayer. Then: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.
Todd: God help me. Jesus help me.Are you guys ready? Let’s Roll.

Welles Crowther, a former Boston College lacrosse player who had a trademark red bandana, was working in New York on Sept. 11, 2001.
This is the story of how he led people to safety after terrorists struck the World Trade Center.

President Trump Just Posthumously Awarded The Medal of Freedom To The Legendary 'Man In The Red Bandana' Who Sacrificed His Life Saving Others on 9/11
Welles Crowther was a 24-year-old equities trader from Upper Nyack, New York, working on the 104th floor of the South Tower on 9/11. He was also a volunteer firefighter.
After the plane hit, he tied a red bandana over his face, found a stairwell that still worked, and went down to the 78th-floor sky lobby. Survivors later described a man in a red bandana who said “follow me.” He put out fires blocking the exit, directed people who could walk, carried a badly burned woman on his back, and led them down about 17 floors to safety.
Then he went back up. He made multiple trips between the sky lobby and the stairs. After leading a second group down, he climbed again to look for more people. He was last seen with FDNY firefighters. His body was found months later in the South Tower lobby, near firefighters and close to the exit.
Welles saved 18 lives that day.
A true American hero.

In 2004 I ran Fossil's smartwatch division — we sold Microsoft's SPOT watch as "WristNet."
It died because every service had to be Microsoft's own. Google's Pixel Watch is making the same mistake.
