While #AI can analyze images with significant precision, there is insufficient high-level evidence to support its widespread use; studies that follow standard reporting guidelines should be encouraged. @binaygrg @PerryLiu95 @vipin_asopa @the_SWLEOC ow.ly/aSiX50Kakx0

This is why the first lesson in medical school is to perform a 3 point ID check to confirm one is talking to the right person!

#GHEMS spotlights state of global health education in UK med schools. Key takeaways include: - GH topics are largely covered by most schools - Emerging topics of GH concern such as global surgery & climate change are lesser taught 1/2

NHS COVID-19 ALERT. Reports this weekend. “Our PPE is a ridiculous joke.” “It’s a disgrace.” “I feel completely let down by our government.” “There’s a lack of eye protection.” “PPE remains inadequate.” “Hospital management acknowledges there isn’t enough PPE.” Need action now.

NHS COVID-19 ALERT. “Today was shambolic in terms of PPE”, writes one frontline doctor. Although shortages are fewer, too many health workers have “zero access”. One nurse was advised to close her eyes if a patient with suspected illness coughed. Guidance is lacking.

Working on the front line, the one major difference I have seen is that people have become more sensible at attending the Emergency Department. Although it took #COVIDー19 for this to happen, hope the public remain sensible even when it's long gone! – at King's Lynn, England

I am an orthopaedic surgeon. No one needs a joint replacement now. Use my theatres, use the beds in my ward, use ME: I would make the worst intensivist, but I can put a drip, transport patients, clean the floor, triage patients... #StopElectiveSurgery #flatteningthecurve

What troubles me about the UK govt’s response to COVID-19 is its strategic objective. The goal seems to have been herd immunity, delaying urgent action to allow an epidemic to infect large numbers of people. Instead, the goal should have been to save lives. A grave error.
