Spent the past week meeting with folks across DC to share @Backpack’s story as we make our way home into the USA.
With the Clarity act on everyone’s mind, it’s hard to appreciate not only how much folks in this town care about ensuring American capital markets lead the world, but also just how knowledgeable they are on crypto. There’s no better example than Senator @JohnBoozman, who was gracious enough to meet with us.
Although it may feel like we’re in the depths of a bear, there is so many reasons to be inspired about the future. I’ve never been so optimistic on this industry as I am now.

today i wanted to give my top of mind thoughts on one of the most popular topics right now - prediction markets.
we are still in a gambling supercycle.
zero-day options, casino, and sports wagering have seen explosive volume increases (20-40%/YoY) across the board.
what about the crypto side? perp was perhaps the greatest casino game ever made. so many people paid insane apy's to buy delta in garbage shitcoins. imagine your cash and carry getting 200% apy because some sucker with a dream wants to top blast ADA-PERP. it was christmas for everyone who dared to make a market.
i read recently some tweets about new coins. i think so much emphasis is put on crypto tech, even today, when it was really already exposed as all ponzis and which narratives could fuel those ponzis. yes im sure the tech is real, and probably the team is smart and competent.
but the entire industry has rampant, unjustified speculation in a market where coins could drop 99% and still be overvalued, where 99% of coins die, not just the meme coins but the L1's too. so how did these ghost L1's get to decabillion dollar market caps?
i think smart vc's inherently intuit all of this, but still choose to kayfabe that the new tokens are somehow different. but alas, narrative follows price. then a few insiders sell, the holders and believers learn what liquidity means and it starts over again.
the reason i remind people of this is because i believe that if you view crypto largely through the lens of unfettered gambling, that the level of interest in betting on outcomes and events and financial tickers and anything under the sun was so high, it spilled into everything and anything, including nfts. because the returns were so high, punters were blind to the cost of capital required to chase those returns on leverage.
today, there are no more runners. there are probably a few diamonds worth holding, but the dream is dead for shitcoin connoisseurs looking for multiples. where have they gone?

이판은 본질적으로 부족주의적이죠. 산 코인, 활동하는 섹터, 들어가 있는 단톡방 이 전부가 부족입니다. 여기에 비영어 지역이란게 끼이면 오퍼레이터/업계인 처지에선 자기 지역에 대한 의무와 안건 처리에 대한 의무가 대립해 버리고, 그 관계성이 제로썸으로 수렴하는 경우가 많습니다.
업계인으로써 최소한 할 수 있는건 한국 크립토 커뮤니티(크게 보면 대한민국 국민들)에 대한 민족적, 그리고 윤리적 책임감을 가지고 일할 의무를 다하는거라 생각합니다.
빗썸하려고 농협 계좌 개설하는 할머니들, 가족을 부양하려고 투자에 뛰어든 아저씨들, 힘든 환경에서도 미래를 준비하려 하는 젊은 세대를 위해 다해야 할 의무가 있다고 봅니다.
쉽게 돈 벌고 승자 진영에 끼고 싶은 마음보다, 국가와 민족에 대한 책임감이 앞서는게, 특권을 누리는 업계 종사자들이 해야 할 최소한의 몫이지 않을까 싶습니다.

선 1줄 요약 : 이번 시즌 처음으로 $ETH 좋아보이네
개인적으로 알트중에는 $ETH 말고는 별로 살게 안 보임.
(저는 스몰캡은 거의 안 합니다)
이더리움은 강한 상대강도를 가지고 2700~3000 구간의 강한 매물대 돌파 시도를 했었고... (동그란 원 구간... 초록/노란 선들은 바이낸스 호가에 걸려있는 매도 물량 입니다)
이후 코인 시장 조정과 더불어 가격이 하락하였으나... 계속해서 상대강도를 유지하면서 다시 올라오고 있음.
저런 큰 매물대에서 돌파 실패를 했음에도 불구하고 상대강도가 안 죽는 경우에는 보통 저런 강한 매물대를 돌파하는 경우를 많이 봤었음.
예를들어 1달러 대부터 강하게 4달러를 넘어설 때의 수이가 저런 모습을 많이 보여줬음.
수이가 저런 모습을 보여줄 때 강한 매물대마다 숏을 치다가 크게 쳐 맞았는데... 이더를 보니 그때의 PTSD가 떠오름.
$ETH 가 괜찮게 보이는 또 다른 이유는...
바로 ETF 수급 때문임. 최근 비트에 3일 연속 순유출이 발생하는 동안에도 이더 etf는 순유입이 발생했으며... 계속해서 좋은 흐름을 유지하고 있음.
ETF가 생긴뒤로 누가 뭐래도 ETF 수급이 장 전체 모습을 이끌고 있다고 생각함.
개인적으로는 이더에 있어서는 굉장히 긍정적인 신호라고 생각함..
이외에도 몇가지 신호가 더 있는데.....

오늘 -90% 빠진 OM(맨트라)을 보고 묘한 기분이 들어 한글로 글을 써봅니다.

이번주가 ‘이더리움 서울’ 컨프런스라 각 종 해외 프로젝트들이 한국에 와서 자기네 프로젝트랑 코인을 홍보하는 주입니다.
그중에 건전한 프로젝트들도 있겠지만… 그렇지 않은 경우도 많다는 건 잘 아실겁니다.
오늘 한국에서 만트라(OM)라는 프로젝트가 RWA 관련 컨퍼런스를 주최했는데요, 아이러니하게도 어제 몇시간만에 최대 95%까지 폭락하기도 했습니다.

순식간에 7조원의 시장가치가 날아간 샘입니다.
스캠 프로젝트인건 분명한데…
이런 프로젝트가 한국에 왜 왔을까요?
결국 또 한국인들을 대상으로 엑싯하려고 온거겠죠.
이름 좀 알리고, 업비트랑 빗썸이랑 상장 관련 회의도 하고, 상장비 네고도하고 상장을 진행하려고 했었겠죠?
다행이도 그전에 언락물량이 관리가 안돼서 한국 피해자는 많지 않아 보입니다.
하지만 이런 행보가 언제까지 반복될지 의문입니다.
한국은 이미 크립토계의 '덤핑 국가'로 자리 잡은 지 오래 됐습니다.
아래 차트는 최근에 상장한 업비트 코인들입니다.
상장시점에 샀을 경우 Virtual는 -73%, Bonk는 -73%, Cow는 -28%.
하입 사이클로 보면, 업비트 상장 시점은 ‘붕괴 단계’에 해당하는 경우가 많습니다.
크립토에서는 스마트 머니 → 기관 투자자 → 대중투자자 → 코리안 투자자로 보시면 될 것같습니다.
위 차트들은 2025년 기준이지만, 김치 프리미엄 데이터를 보면 이 현상이 오래전부터 반복되고 있었음을 알 수 있습니다.
한국의 매수 강도가 가장 높을 때가 늘 꼭짓점이었습니다.
그 다음 바이어가 더 이상 없는 거죠.
그래서 해외 프로젝트들이 시간 들이고 돈 들여서 한국에 오는 겁니다.

It's inspiring to see tens of thousands of community members secure life-changing wealth as part of the Hyperliquid genesis event. Importantly, none of these people were insiders. They:
1) believed in the vision for a better financial system when no one else would
2) acted on that conviction by using and building upon the nascent technology, bootstrapping an unstoppable financial network

Looking back, we've come a long way. But looking ahead, there's so much further to go.
Finance is humanity's greatest invention. It is the only effective way to coordinate human effort across time and space. Yet, the legacy financial system contradicts its underlying goal of empowering individuals:
- it is opaque and centralized
- it is owned and operated by privileged insiders
- it doesn't embrace technological innovation to better serve users

텔레그램에 많은 정보가 돌아다니는건 사실이다.
하지만 소비자 입장에서 텔레그램에 돌아다니는 정보에는 큰 문제가 있다. 바로 정보와 광고를 구분하기가 어렵다는 점 이다.
한국에 광고를 돌리고 싶어하는 프로젝트들이 한달에 사용하는 비용이 수백, 수천만원 단위이며, 타 국가에 비해 한국 마케팅 비용이 유독 높다는 것은 웹3에서 BD나 마케팅 직무를 경험해본 사람은 잘 알것이다.
타 국가에 비해 개인들의 리서치 역량이 약하고, 리테일이 정보를 얻는 방법이 이미 KOL 위주로 형성되어있는 한국의 웹3 생태계를 감안할 때 KOL 비용은 굉장히 높게 책정되어있는 반면 소비자는 텔방을 통해 얻은 정보에 굉장히 잘 반응한다.
프로젝트가 마케팅에 사용한 비용은 어떻게 회수할까? 바로 리테일이다. 노드 판매가 되었던, 예치가 되었던 단순 트젝이 되었던 프로젝트는 생태계 유저와 돈을 한번에 빨아드릴 수 있는 한국에 마케팅 비용을 태우고, 이에 대한 보상으로 리테일 자금을 가져간다.
그렇기 때문에 kimchi hehehe라는 이야기가 나오는 것 이다.
한국의 웹3 소비자는 돈이 될만한 프로젝트를 찾기 원하지만 광고와 정보조차 구분할 수 없다. 적어도 정보와 광고는 구분해야 한국 웹3 생태계가 발전하던 말던 할 것 같다. 아니면 계속 돈놀이 도박장 유동성 출구로 남아있을 수 밖에 없다.
