Dopey Report Card: open.substack.com/pub/bobkra…

Dopey Report Card (Colts vs. Vikings)

When my college grade-point average is higher than Daniel Jones’ average yards per dropback (2.6 yards), you know you’re in trouble

Daniel Jones with just 2.6 yards per dropback today. That ranks 206th among 207 qualified games this season.

The Vikings defense blitzed on 85.2% of Daniel Jones' dropbacks, the highest blitz rate by a defense in a game in the Next Gen Stats era (since 2016). Minnesota generated pressure on 60.9% of those blitzes, with all four its sacks coming when blitzing. #INDvsMIN | #Skol

With Sunday’s loss, the 2-5 Colts are finished, and now they can hit the trade deadline running

This will be a massively important job for interim general Ed Dodds, who needs to set up the next guy with some draft capital.

With Sunday's loss killing any crazy hopes of earning a wildcard spot (chuckle), the Colts can now go full force into the trading deadline. open.substack.com/pub/bobkra…

I’ve always hated the fade route near the goal line. Even when it was Peyton to either Reggie or Marvin.

Multiple teams would be open to a potential trade for Colts RB Jonathan Taylor, a source told ESPN’s @HolderStephen, but it remains unclear whether the Colts are ready to unload players before the trade deadline. espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/5025…

More musings about Chris Ballard, Shane Steichen and the Colts muddy future

Ed Dodds also plays an important role here as he tries to trade established stars for draft capital before the Nov. 10 deadline.

This is very detailed, good info on the Colts GM search.

It would not surprise me if Carlie Irsay-Gordon and the Colts are looking at non-traditional leadership structures that are similar to a couple successful teams (and successful roster overhauls). Some very early thoughts on the upcoming GM search: nytimes.com/athletic/7707253…

Why the Colts GM search could get interesting, and names to watch   (Gift Article)

Here are some front-office candidates who could interest Carlie Irsay-Gordon and the Colts as they remake their organization.

Chris Ballard’s Colts epitaph will read: “He never replaced Luck and never found anybody who could...

The early-season firing was a bit of a surprise, but it was inevitable. The loss to previously winless Tennessee sealed the deal.

As I mentioned in my Substack column, I am pretty damned certain that Peyton has no interest in saving the day back in Indy. Might they reach out to get his thoughts? Absolutely. They should. But based on what I know (and @mchappell51 had this first), Peyton has no interest.

#Colts HC Shane Steichen on GM Chris Ballard: “He worked tirelessly for this organization, this city. And it’s the shitty part of the business. I don’t think it completely falls on Chris. I’m the head football coach. It takes all of us. Coaches, scouts, everybody. …”

Yes very good point. Just learned that from a buddy who has season tickets. Makes sense.
Dad@Lucifer31350541Oct 19
The Colts just asked the fans to pay more for tickets, the letters just went out in the past week. That stadium was half empty by the time the fourth quarter rolled around. She’s gotta start worrying about the fan base pretty soon.
