SUPER DIRT CUP: DRIVER SPOTLIGHT JETT BARNES @TheSkagit presents the 54th Annual Jim Raper Memorial Super Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway June 18, 19, 20, paying over $100K to the winner on Saturday Night. One of the many names coming to the Super Dirt Cup this year is 15-year-old Jett Barnes. Barnes has already knocked off two 360 Sprint Cars wins this year, both at Watsonville Speedway and a 410 win at the Douglas County Dirt Track. Barnes made his 410 Sprint Car debut Friday, May 29, at Watsonville Speedway with the NARC King of the West Sprint Car Series, where he finished sixth in the A-Main that night. “I was really excited for it … It's a big jump, so it takes some time, but I think overall everything went well,” Barnes said in reference to his NARC debut. Barnes made his Skagit Speedway debut in 2025 when he came to the Fred Brownfield 360 Summer Nationals with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour. Barnes finished 20th on the opening night but rebounded with a 13th-place finish on the final night after starting 18th. “I was so amazed by the facility, it was awesome honestly,” Barnes said. “Probably the nicest track I've ever been to, facility-wise, track racing too, the racing surface was good, the pits were good, everything, everyone there is just nice and awesome.” This year, Barnes makes his Super Dirt Cup debut in a field loaded with talented drivers from all over the world. Barnes said despite it being his first couple of races in a 410 Sprint Car, he doesn't see that as an excuse and is still hoping to either get a win or do something good. Barnes will be participating in the NARC King of the West Fastest Five Days - Road to Dirt Cup, built by Lippert Construction Inc, kicking off June 11 at Southern Oregon Speedway. Similar to the Sprint Car Challenge Tour Speedweek he participated in last year, he feels the NARC Speedweek can benefit him in a similar way. “Last year, I ran the SCCT Speedweek, and I didn't have much experience in a 360 [Sprint Car] before that, but I feel like it definitely helped me just getting to experience new tracks and just different racing surfaces and just handling the car,” Barnes said. “I think it'll be good for me, because there's big tracks and little tracks, and it'll just help.” Before the racing action kicks off for the Skagit Casino Resort 54th Annual Jim Raper Memorial Super Dirt Cup, the festivities start Wednesday, June 17, with the Dirt Cup Kick-Off Party at the Railroad Pub and Pizza, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., where there will be live music from the Chris Eger Band, Sprint Cars, and more!
