As a software developer, your perseverance must be top notch. You want to achieve a little task, after analyzing the logic in the algorithm, you mentally capture the volume of codes you would write to achieve such a little task. Because you got no option you must write it anyway.

Another thing you've probably realized is that if you ask 5 programmers this question, you'll get 10 different answers. There is no single "correct" way to do it. I'd recommend trying a few languages out. Make hello world in Processing, C++, etc and see which one YOU like best.
"By teaching our girls to code, we’re not just preparing them to enter the work force — we’re preparing them to lead it.” — Reshma Saujani We're really excited about the new @girlscouts study, & happy to see this coverage by @Maya__Salam in the @nytimes! nytimes.com/2019/02/12/techn…
I code. I don't hack. I code. I don't hack. I code. I don't hack. I code. I don't hack. I code. I don't hack. I code. I don't hack. I code. I don't hack. Also not every web developer builds mobile apps lol 🤦🏽‍♀️ – at Seattle, WA

These made me structure my code. C++ was a challenge at first but I realised that it started to give me a better undertanding of what was really going on behind coding. Now, C# is like writing a book! So to speak... – at Paris, France

I used to "script" in Actionscript for Flash, MaxScript for 3dsmax at first. I started to understand the, let's say, the logic then. Then more seriously, for my personal art work, I came naturally to java and javascript (@ProcessingOrg and @p5xjs). – at Paris, France

#BlackTechTwitter if you don't have a portfolio, no worries. Just let me know that. I definitely want to help people find employment this year. We NEED more #blacksintech. I set a goal for how many people I want to help and I'm sticking to this!

One important thing I’ve learned over my years in tech is that you have to take care of yourself first. Mentally and physically. If you’re not healthy, it will be much harder to succeed. Code will always be there when you’re ready to come back 💙👨🏼‍💻👩🏻‍💻

Exercise yourself away fr tutorials. Going off the beaten path is how you learn how to navigate the Stack Overflows and other resources on Google. Also do a project on one of your other hobbies - it makes it much more fun and enjoyable, and brings the motivation to finish!

Also don't be afraid of the "never finishing anything" syndrome because it's the journey that counts and you don't owe anything to anybody.

stackoverflow is one..plus don't forget to open a github account to store your projects, that way you can monitor your progress even better.

Just like learning music, you may not be able to play a melody right away, but again just like music, if you practice practice practice practice... You will get over the initial hurdles and it will become second nature to you. Build many really small projects, they help a ton.

Try to make a perdonal-project. (1) it gets you more invested in what you learn and (2) you will note waste time with random tutorials but learn things as you need them. Don’t trust well structured learning paths.

What helped me a lot was to realize that some things are "as is" and don't need to be understood in detail right from the beginning. To use a framework you don't need to unterstand the inner inner workings right from the beginning. Explore the inners once you understood the whole

People who have been doing this for a decade or more still look up the most basic stuff *daily*. Never feel bad to reference the docs or look up sample code.
