I sent a letter to Governor Hochul calling for a pardon for NYPD Sgt. Erik Duran.
This is a clear miscarriage of justice. Sgt. Duran made a split-second decision in the line of duty to protect lives, and now he’s facing years behind bars for it.
We ask our law enforcement officers to make impossible decisions every day to keep us safe. When they act in good faith to stop immediate danger, they should be supported—not punished.

17 years ago today, on April 6th, 2009, Assemblyman Brian Maher was sworn in as Mayor of the Village of Walden. At the age of 23, Maher was the youngest Mayor serving in the state of New York at the time. He went on to serve three terms until taking a job with Senator Bill Larkin
