Love that trade! They need to do something to improve the putrid outfield

#Braves #Astros trade idea: HOU sends 1B Christian Walker & CF Jake Meyers to ATL for OF Mike Yastremski & C Jonah Heim. HOU gets proven LH OF power bat & backup C who can start if needed. ATL gets legit power bat for DH/1B (can give Olson some DH AB) & Top glove OF w/ speed

Well said. I agree. This team is undisciplined. Waste at bats. Terrible with runners in scoring position. They are giving away the division lead to Seattle. It’s up to the mariners to win it. This team won’t go far in the playoffs even if they qualify.

Said if last night. They’re just not good. So don’t get mad. This is who they are. They’re awful at recognizing a strike zone. No one does anything exceptionally well. The ones that do are either hurt, gone elsewhere or done for the year.

Cam smith should be starting not trammell.

What's wrong with Espada's lineup?
60
You really think Correa would come back? Just seems weird
Jeremy Branham
@JeremyBranham30 Jul 2025
I'm starting to come around to the idea.
41
Not sure that is enough. Need offense more than starting pitching especially since it looks like paredes will be out for the season!
Michael Schwab
@michaelschwab1329 Jul 2025
How do you feel if the Astros were to get Dylan Cease and Willi Castro? Is that enough to help?
33
Do a deal where you get him and Donovan and helsley!
Jeremy Branham
@JeremyBranham29 Jul 2025
The Astros are so desperate for a 3B, it all but confirms that Esock is done for the year (I know we were already there). Arenado is under contract thru 27' and has a .430 OPS in the last 28 days. I'm out.
40
I would do that deal in a heart beat! But they won’t do it!
Astros Knower@AstrosKnower29 Jul 2025
We take on the full Nolan Arenado contract and they include Brendan Donovan and Ryan Helsley. Let’s go win the World Series.
21
Gimme him and another outfield bat or at least him and helsley
Jeremy Branham
@JeremyBranham25 Jul 2025
Gimme

Agreed
Daniel Meyer@TheAstrosLocker27 Jul 2025
Gotta get major league hitters in this lineup ASAP. There's no reason to wait until July 31.
16
Amen! This team is terrible offensively!
Michael Schwab
@michaelschwab1327 Jul 2025
Go get some bats, Dana

This is a lineup as many have been that is not winning a World Series without injured players returning and a couple of upgrades through trade!
Jeremy Branham

What's wrong with Espada's lineup?

Yes agreed. Small moves if any since they don’t have a lot to give in the minor leagues. Prob will have to move major league talent instead to get anything.

My bet would be they do something, but the demand is greater than the supply, and the Astros aren't going to win any bidding wars. There's also the CBT element.

Dan Dana brown had a chance to add depth pieces in free agency in the offseason. They chose not to. They were worried about paying above the luxury tax. That’s why this club will not win the division this year. He didn’t address all the needs in free agency.
Dan Mathews
@DANMATHEWSHOU20 Jul 2025
I don’t say this for fun. A lot of this isn’t their fault. But a lot of this is.
62
It’s been a fun joy ride! Eventually you can only tread water so much! The season is fading fast. They will get swept today as they are playing pretty much a triple a lineup. There is no depth at the minors. I would start to rebuild the system and be sellers
Dan Mathews
@DANMATHEWSHOU20 Jul 2025
Yes, the Astros are (likely) getting guys back. But it’ll be too late. You get swept in this series, you’re not winning this division. I’m not backing off of it.
38
The whole team looks lost! This current roster is not producing. Pitching can only go so far. If Dana Brown does not upgrade this roster by July 31st they will be getting ready for spring training.
Dan Mathews
@DANMATHEWSHOU19 Jul 2025
Looks like I picked a good night to fall asleep early. I didn’t have to get more annoyed with this lineup. Injuries have nothing to do with Altuve, Walker, or Diaz not getting a hit. Nor the team going 0 for 9 w/ RISP. Again, Mess Around & Find Out. Now you’re 4 games up.

Walker has been the worst signing just like Jose Abreu. You pay a player to come in an upgrade your worst offensive position last year and he under performs. I think he’s gone by the end of the year!
Jeremy Branham
@JeremyBranham14 Jul 2025
Not only has Christian Walker struggled in the first year of a 3-year contract, but he also cost the Astros two draft picks.
23
agreed. Christian walker was a terrible signing! Just like Jose Abreu
