Steven McClurg, CEO of @CanaryFunds, says $ZEC and other privacy coins are getting the AI-to-crypto rotation bid first.
"You're going to see a rotation back out of AI into crypto, particularly into areas where there's interesting activity, like tokenization, for instance. So protocols that are heavily involved in tokenization, that are making real money, that have real transactions, I believe those tokens are going to do well. Bitcoin will get a good lift off of this, and I do believe that'll happen sometime around Q1."

Zcash wouldn't exist without @zooko. He seeded the technical and cultural values of the project that have kept us vigilant in defense of its integrity.
Much of Zcash's recent success has been because Zooko plays a less central role in the project, and it has decentralized and grown to transcend him. I think he would agree! But he is still a major spiritual force of the project, and an ally that wants it to succeed.
Let's be mindful of the signal we send our next generation of risk takers, by how we treat his legacy. Zcash has a long road ahead of it, and no single one of us can carry it across the finish line.
We're all liable to end up in @zooko's shoes one day. You do not want to be on the receiving end of the poetic justice served for the things you said when you were once on the winning team.

This is great! Sapling needs to be turned off for a while, the same way Sprout was deprecated. It's not really possible to make Sapling quantum-recoverable, so folks need to move their funds to the modern Ironwood pool.

My current read on the market is that we are at the end of our multi-week pullback after a two month bull market breakout that started this entire bull cycle.
Essentially, we saw the top names pull back 25% to 40% from their highs, and Bitcoin has yet to break under 80k, suggesting the strength in the market will continue. We got through a lot of noise and doomer takes from the timeline, with sentiment completely reset, as well as leverage and all momentum indicators.
This makes me very, very bullish for the EOY rally, and I stand to believe that the Q4 rally starts this week at the end of October.
Be more bullish.

Security risks (AI-driven hacks, mathematical breakthroughs & quantum computing) have become increasingly concerning in recent weeks both personally & for the broader market.
$ZEC looks like the best way to play this, and the market is already showing us that with clear divergence vs BTC/ETH/SOL/HYPE/TOTAL3ES over the past couple weeks.
Additionally, short-term spot & derivatives positioning looks significantly cleaner vs earlier this month. ETF flows have just flipped positive again after ~3 weeks of outflows, while coin-denominated OI is at its lowest level since August.
Separately, OTC desks are still seeing strong interest from liquid & VC funds, with ZEC reportedly remaining one of the most bought altcoins by funds even at these elevated prices.
I generally view protocol upgrades as weak catalysts in isolation, but the January upgrade feels different. Tachyon addresses the scalability improvements the community has been waiting for, while the quantum component of the upgrade addresses one of the highest mindshare risks to the industry. Together, I think they make for a much stronger catalyst than either would on its own.
I haven’t looked too deeply into the underlying tech or whether the proposed upgrades will actually deliver meaningful quantum resistance, and I don’t care to. When all the tastemakers (Naval, Balaji, a16z, Paradigm, Dragonfly & Multicoin) are pushing the ZEC narrative as a hedge against BTC, the realities of what it’s tech can or can’t actually do aren’t part of the thesis.
The combination of improving positioning, continued institutional demand, relative strength & an increasingly powerful narrative makes for an attractive setup, even in shaky market conditions. I expect my conviction to continue building as we approach January.
I have no strong view on market direction over the coming months, and the quantum tailwind for ZEC is a headwind for BTC, so I’m hedged vs BTC on a vol-adjusted basis, but think a naked long is also justified.
Quantum is the crypto equivalent of cancer and ZEC is the cure. Don’t find yourself Zidelined on the road past $2k
