🌻Albert Eschenmoser died on July 14 three weeks before turning 98—very sad news. This giant of #organicchemistry had spent his whole career @ETH_DCHAB. He was famous for the #totalsynthesis of vitamin B12 (with R. B. Woodward) and the development of #syntheticmethods as well as for his studies on the #biosynthesis of #naturalproducts and the origin of life.
