We’d our first curriculum meeting of the new school year today, with a unique selection of books we’d researched, knew and recommended for teachers to browse, compare and choose. There’s a lot to be said for being truly independent.

It’s #NationalReadaBookDay which demands I finish reading this cracker, Skulkmoor, ahead of its Thursday publication, and our #school #popup on that day. @hanakewrites @RHKidsUK

Rather as teaching staff don’t really know the impact they have until they leave the profession, writers and illustrators can have no idea what they mean to readers. Today, I gushed and spluttered to meet the incomparable Ann Patchett. Such a pinch myself moment.

This weekend, with its hints of the end of summer, has put me in mind of Stormy Loch, of autumn clues, such as those experienced by The Children of Wolf Rock, such s bold, exhilarating #adventure @NatashaFarrant1 @Faber Childrens #childrensbooks

It’s right every day, but particularly on #internationalcatday to celebrate Rose Robbins’ assured, empathetic and inclusive #graphic debut. Cat School: Odd Cat Out is unique, beautifully structured and thoughtfully inhabited. We are proud to recommend and sell it @Scallywagpress

Good morning everyone, please read; The last few days here on X/Twitter have been bizarre to say the least. Most of you will have seen what has been going on, but now is the time to put an end to it, for everyone's sake. 🙏 What has made this particularly difficult is the fact that the other account involved runs a hedgehog rescue charity. Many of my followers also follow this account, and vice versa. We're all supposed to be on the same side! All my correspondences during this are easily visible by clicking my 'replies' tab, I've not deleted anything and I maintain I have done nothing wrong and have nothing to hide. I was going to address every hurtful thing I've been accused of, but I'm tired of defending myself, and just want all of this unpleasantness to stop. To that end, I won't be replying anymore to trolls, and I ask all my followers, from now on, please do the same, for my sake. 🙏 I'll be ignoring and blocking any negativity. Some have suggested that I mute instead, but that only means I can't see the replies, but all my followers would still be able to. It's upsetting that I've lost followers because of all this, but those that know me and have followed me for a while know the truth. Most of the people who have blocked me never followed me, don't know me, and just believed everything they've read from elsewhere.... and I get it.. If I were new to this drama, and I clicked on the profiles of the 2 main protagonists and saw a male bird photographer on one, and a female who runs a hedgehog rescue charity on the other, I'd probably side automatically with the hedgehog charity too! The really sad thing though, people shouldn't have to be choosing sides, this is the thing that has upset people that have followed both our accounts for years... I just want to get back to sharing my birds and other wildlife, and I'm sure the other account wants to get back to helping hedgehogs. A couple of days ago, I sent the same videos of my visiting hedgehogs to a lady who runs a hedgehog rescue near me in Somerset. Enclosed is her full reply. I love hedgehogs, the same as I do any other wildlife (except horseflies!) and will always do my best and always take advice from people more knowledgeable than I am... but there are ways and means of addressing people, especially when original assumptions are wrong. I'll be keeping an eye on the hedgehogs, supplying food and water as usual, and I have my local hedgehog expert close by if there are any further concerns, so please don't worry about them. 🦔 I hate all the stress and drama, my account is supposed to be an escape from all that, and I apologise to all my followers if any of this whole sorry saga upset you.🙏 I had to defend myself....but now that's done. Thank you so much to everyone who has stuck up for me these last few days, I really appreciate it. ❤️ From now on though, I'm asking you all to please stop... let the other account get back to helping hedgehogs, because hedgehogs need all the help they can get! 🙏 Hopefully, they will also ask the same of their followers, and we can all just move on peacefully! ❤️ Thank you for reading.. this will hopefully be my last post on the matter.
