Best example of see one, do one, teach one I've seen!
Observe the rigorous health and safety standards used when cleaning the clock face of Big Ben on Westminster Palaces Elizabeth Tower in the 1980s. Not a bit of me if I'm honest.

Could salvage HDR brachytherapy change the management of isolated seminal vesicle recurrence in Prostate Cancer ? Paper brachyjournal.com/article/S1… Salvage ☢️high-dose-rate brachytherapy for isolated seminal vesicle recurrence following definitive treatment for #ProstateCancer Salvage high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy may offer meaningful disease control for selected patients with isolated seminal vesicle recurrence after definitive prostate cancer treatment. ➡️ In this retrospective series of 22 patients, 5-year metastasis-free and overall survival were 75.4% and 88%, respectively, while median time to subsequent therapy was 62.5 months. ➡️However, 18% experienced late grade ≥3 toxicity, highlighting the need for careful patient selection, counselling, and long-term follow-up. @brachyraqi @OncoAlert 🚨 #LPCCC27 @Silke_Gillessen @AOmlin @ProfKHerrmann @weoncologists

A privilege to offer such an important technique and work within such an amazing team.
It's #BrachytherapyAwarenessDay! Brachytherapy is radiotherapy delivered from inside the body, placing the dose exactly where it's needed and sparing healthy tissue. Precise, effective, and often curative.

Simple conclusion from this. Don't use @AXAUK. Profits before their customers lives.
1. I don’t often tweet about my personal life, but on 1st November, my mum Jane was hit by a large vehicle as a pedestrian in St. Louis, USA. She suffered a severe brain injury & remains in a coma in hospital. Here's Jane & me in happier times.

Can just imagine all the teams meetings that had to be done to come up with this vacuous 'update'. All that scrambling behind the scenes - just publish the results! – at Harrow, London
We’re continuing to prepare for the upcoming regulation of physician associates (PAs) and anaesthesia associates (AAs). Here’s an update on how we’re reviewing responses from our consultation and next steps: ⚫️Our consultation was a structured process designed to gather and analyse nuanced feedback to inform and shape PA and AA regulation. The process allows us to consider different perspectives and make evidence-based decisions, which is why it takes time. ⚫️The scope of the consultation was specific to meet legal obligations under the Anaesthesia Associates and Physician Associates Order. It focused on technical aspects, covering our proposed rules, standards, and guidance related to education, registration, dealing with concerns, and the fees framework for PAs and AAs. ⚫️The consultation wasn’t about deciding whether PAs and AAs should be regulated, or who their regulator should be, as these decisions have already been taken by the Department of Health and Social Care and passed into law through the UK and Scottish Parliaments. This means we have a legal duty to regulate PAs and AAs from December 2024. The consultation also didn’t cover PA and AA roles or their deployment, as these areas are for the NHS and employers. ⚫️We’re very grateful to everyone who took part and we’re currently analysing the responses to help inform any changes to the draft rules, standards and guidance that we shared in the consultation. We’ll publish a report showing how the consultation and insights from research we conducted with members of the public, shaped our approach at the end of the year. We’ll also publish the final versions of the rules, standards and guidance once they’ve been approved by our governing Council. ⚫️When regulation begins, it’ll help assure patients, colleagues, and employers that PAs and AAs are safe to practise and can be held accountable if serious concerns are raised. As always, patient safety remains our absolute focus and priority. ⚫️We’ll keep you updated as our work towards regulation progresses. To learn more, visit our PA and AA webpages and sign up for our community of interest newsletter: gmc-uk.org/pa-and-aa-regulat…

The Anaesthesia Associates and Physician Associates Order 2024 does not provide a legal "duty" for the GMC to be the regulator of Associates. The Order gives the GMC the legal "authority" to be the regulator of Associates, which it could refuse - should it wish to do so. legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2024/374/…

Absolutely wild – at Harrow, London
An incredible claim in Sir Anthony Seldon's biography of Liz Truss: She, according to the book, considered "stopping cancer treatment on the NHS" as a way of filling the financial blackhole An adviser is said to have replied, "is she being serious?” independent.co.uk/news/uk/po…

Unfortunately, it looks as though an acid attack has indeed taken place against a Muslim woman in Middlesbrough this evening. The voicenote was sent by the son of one of the mosque committee members. They are focused on the victim, making sure she is OK.

Our office needed a whiteboard. Knowing how Kafkaesque NHS estates/procurement can be - I just bought one and installed it myself one evening. It's ridiculous how bloated bureaucracy and red tape stifles progress.
Death by a thousand cuts: a tale of how I got some noticeboards installed in a trainee room. As wellbeing lead i thought it would be nice to hang some notice boards in our trainee room, for regular updates on wellbeing issues. Seems simple no? Not for NHS front line staff. 1/
