Next year, I will assign one of my jira tickets to every kid in America.
This will be the first of many.
Fascinating
everyone in legal tech should read nolla's utah agreement.
every prescription still goes out under a physician's licence but they don't need to review it. utah agreed not to discipline them and in exchange the company cannot disclaim liability for the ai's output and needs professional liability cover.
today, a lawyer's name on ai work still requires review. but a law firm can replicate the nolla structure if they get one state supreme court willing to test this out, the way utah's ai office did here, and one insurer to underwrite it. so exciting
People think the minions router being baller as a joke. But I have extensively tested it and it is one of the best possible Wifi 6E routers money can buy. Like someone at Illumination Studios was like "idk $80" and the router manufacturer was like gotchu fam.
I too am sad that websites are blocking AI agents but it's crazy imo to think Amazon/etc are somehow "turning away good AI agent business" with their bans right now.
The customer that wants to use an AI agent to shop Amazon is their most annoying demographic. Probably someone who sets price alerts; uses an ad blocker; does a lot of returns; optimizes credit card points; and is excited to use an AI agent to automate discount codes and price drop refund requests and be generally annoying. For websites to discover a way to block customers like this is Christmas early.
Cat and mouse game aside, what probably changes this is either if a big chunk of society adopts this kind of optimizer mindset (unlikely) or if Muse/Instinct does it for them (maybe?). There's surely people out there who could be more Type A if it were easier to be that way. But it's probably not very many people

I was about to write and angel check to a founder.
Then he told me how he used novocaine for a recent root canal.
I ripped up the check on the spot. Can't trust a founder that soft.
This goes unbelievably hard
Sequoia partner Doug Leone reveals he got a root canal with no Novocaine to see if he was really a badass
"I had to get a root canal. And I had to go to a meeting right after that. I told the dentist, drill without any Novocaine.”
“My whole life, I wanted to see if I was a badass or not. Am I a fake badass that has this envelope nobody could tell, or am I really a badass on the inside?"
"He drilled and I jumped. And I told the dentist, I won't move again. And I didn't move again. I used the trick of thinking what it must be like to go to war and lose an arm or two legs. That's pain with consequences. Mine was pain with no consequences."
“It’s just nerve endings from there to my brain to my spine, f*ck it I’m not moving.”
"I had to go home and change my shirt because I was a puddle of sweat. But I didn't move. And so I love fear. It does wonders for me."
ah yes, those wee hours before a flight when every single app crawls out of the woodwork to put a Live Activity on my lock screen

kids, you can have your iOS 27 if you eat your vegetables!
📲 iOS 27 makes devices that are not compatible with iOS 27 obsolete - by force.
We’ve found that devices seemingly must be able to upgrade to iOS 27 in order to use the parental controls within screen time.
Parent devices running iOS 26 were still able to control and approve screen time on non compatible devices.
However, iOS 27 has, as it stands in beta 6, requires parents to upgrade device hardware in order to be able to use screen time controls.
We’re hoping this is temporary during beta, but this will cause a bit of a nightmare mate for parents globally who cannot remotely approve or control devices that don’t work with iOS 27.

Has the US govt tried raising money from venture capital
The US govt is on pace for the first $2T deficit in (non-pandemic) history.
But also: Big Tech is in the middle of one of the largest capital expenditure projects in the history of capitalism.
So, basically the story is:
- Treasury: “We need ~$2 trillion.”
- AI hyperscalers: “And we need a couple hundred billions, pls.”
- AI labs/neoclouds: “Hey, we need hundreds of billions, too.”
- Energy/utilities: “Us, too!"
- Housing: “Don't forget about me!"
Everybody wants capital.
Time to eliminate the billable hour in favor of the Outcome-Based Hour
associates bonuses (and job security) are dependent on meeting an hours requirement. partners (not all) get annoyed if you bill for tiny things. it's annoying.
it's also a reason why getting rid of the billable hour also makes sense for law firms and why there has never been a better time to be a lawyer. the annoying parts of the job are going away
