Before the 1984 Winter Olympics put it on the world map, and a decade before the siege, this was simply a city going about its day.

This is the horrifying reality we live through every single day in Gaza. Random gunfire is directed at the tents of displaced families, terrorizing innocent people, including women, children, and the elderly. There is no safety, no protection, and nowhere to escape.
Imagine being forced to live in a fragile tent, already having lost your home, and still facing the constant threat of bullets reaching your shelter. Even the tents where we seek refuge are no longer safe.
How much more suffering must we endure? How many more times must the world witness our pain and remain silent?
Please don't forget us. Keep talking about Gaza. Our lives are not disposable.

"Islam saved Jewry. This is an unpopular, discomforting claim in the modern world. But it is a historical truth. The argument for it is double. First, in 570 CE, when the Prophet Mohammad was born, the Jews and Judaism were on the way to oblivion. And second, the coming of Islam saved them, providing a new context in which they not only survived, but flourished, laying foundations for subsequent Jewish cultural prosperity - also in Christendom - through the medieval period into the modern world."
This is the opening paragraph of "So, What Did The Muslims Do For The Jews?", an essay by David J Wasserstein, the Eugene Greener Jr Professor of Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt University. It was published in The Jewish Chronicle on 24 May 2012.
History is not a science, and historians will often interpret the same data in different ways, particularly so when writing in different eras.
This reality notwithstanding, Professor Wasserstein's essay, and the many details he references, provides a useful and necessary corrective to the fact-free, ahistorical ideological ravings that have become all-too-common substitutes for serious historical research and analysis.
My thanks to @xtc_uk for drawing my attention to this important essay in his response to one of my less gifted trolls.

In the months leading up to the Israel-US war on Iran, Europe was being bombarded with a propaganda campaign @SohanDsouza and I linked to Israel. The message, support regime change in Iran.
🧵Four days before the strikes on Iran on 28 February, the Israel-linked "Great Replacement" campaign @SohanDsouza and I unearthed also began running Iran regime-change ads on TikTok, aimed at Europe. The campaign was viewed at least 18 million times. 1/8

It’s hard not to question the wisdom of the ABC shuttering its only business television show when its charter requires it to broadcast programs that reflect the gamut of Australian society.

Literate Africans threatened the ideological foundation of slavery in the United States, so contemporary writers went to great lengths to describe them as "non-African"
Here's one colourful description of an African, who, when observed from some angle, could be considered white
“The oldest known texts written by non-native populations in the Americas using a non-Latin script are the Arabic manuscripts composed by enslaved African Muslims in the 18th century.”
