When I was a Boy Scout, I spent part of my summers on Mackinac Island, often raising and lowering the flag at the Governor’s Mansion. It was a privilege I took seriously. He seems to hate the smallest things that make Michigan special, as well as that which makes us great.
Mackinac Island may be a treasured institution to many Michiganders, but not to Abdul El-Sayed. “I hate Mackinac so much,” he said in a 2020 documentary about himself. “…every time I’ve ever come here, I’ve hated it. Why am I here?”

Unsettling. I want to be surprised, but I’m not. This is the expectation from many bad politicians—take a position demonizing a market, but use it to secretly to build massive wealth. Seems he’s changed a lot since college. nypost.com/2026/08/07/us-new…

I love my @Ford Mustang Mach-E, but they made new announcement about a new car, and didn’t include ANY PHOTOS OR VIDEO OF THE CAR! They’re asking for reservations too. Sight unseen. What an absolute fail.

Correct.
Public service announcement: West Michigan is a region; Western Michigan is a university.

When Will Ferrell and Jeff Goldblum went live with SNL's "Space: The Infinite Frontier with Harry Caray" sketch, the first part was scripted and on cue cards for both actors, but halfway through, Ferrell started improv'ing insane questions and you can see Goldblum holding on for dear life answering them 😂 I forget how good this era of SNL really was

Tom @LlamasNBC: “I’m curious, how important is being American to you? What do you love about America?” Pope Leo: “First of all, just to clarify, I think of myself more as the pope, who happens to be American. Not to belittle what it means to be American. I was born in the United States, my family is still in the United States. I have great love for America. But I understand my mission, having a very important mission, being pastor of a global church and having a voice and opportunity to speak to people throughout the world. So, I will put things in that order. At the same time I will acknowledge for myself as well as the people of the United States, judging by the response we’ve seen since May 8 of last year, that there is great significance in being the first American pope.”

Get ye to Grand Rapids. See The Odyssey in 70mm IMAX. It MUST be seen that way, at least once. If Odysseus can get to Ithaca, you can see a freaking movie.

The @OttawaGOP desperately needs new leadership. Instead of advocating for real change or GOTV, they complain and criticize good, Republican leaders. Communism is literally on the ballot in this state and they are casting doubt against @JustinRoebuck before a primary.

This seems like a very good business opportunity given the current circumstances.
The scary thing here is that IMAX can't build any more new projectors. (They apparently don't have a complete set of the engineering blueprints, most of the engineers who designed them have retired or passed away, and the parts supply chains have long since dried up.) So the goal for the foreseeable future is to upgrade and keep all the existing projectors running for as long as they can.

Why is it ‘cancelled’ in the U.K. but ‘canceled’ in the U.S.? Because we gave them that L in 1776.

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all Americans on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This anniversary stands as an invitation not only to celebrate the nation’s remarkable journey, but also to reflect upon the responsibilities that the sons and daughters of this country bear to one another, and to the generations who will inherit the nation that is being shaped today. vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…
