This is an excellent idea from my friends at The America First Policy Institute. It's called "Reorienting the Super Intelligence Frontier to Serve Americans."
They argue that the AI companies should commit to spending more of their compute on curing cancer instead of trying to build a "machine god" through recursive self-improvement.
I 100% agree with this.

The increases have been dramatic.
Nvidia’s federal lobbying spending skyrocketed nearly ninefold from $640,000 in 2024 to $6 million in 2025. From the second quarter of this year to the third, Nvidia’s spending on lobbying increased 53.5%.

NEW: A traffic stop in Lincoln County, NV led to the arrest of a Mexican illegal alien who was found in possession of more than 700 lbs of fentanyl & meth, per DOJ, which is now charging him. Feds say he had 14 kilos of fentanyl, which is approx 7 million lethal doses, and 677 lbs of meth with a street value of more than $2 million.
