BREAKING: The prime minister of the UK has advised people to stock up on tinned food and bottled water, per BBC
Sometimes the hardest lessons come from building something you genuinely believe in. You start with a vision, build for the people who show up, and make decisions based on what you understand at the time. Then, one day, you realize the vision has outgrown the foundation you built it on.
I built for a small community, never anticipating the challenges of serving thousands, let alone 50,000 users. I’m learning that building something people want is only half the battle. Building something capable of carrying that vision into the future is an entirely different challenge.
Hindsight has a way of exposing decisions you made before you knew what was coming. The real test isn’t whether you made mistakes, but whether you’re willing to rebuild what you must, even after investing so much of yourself into what already exists.
The vision hasn’t changed, but the path forward looks different than I imagined.
There’s something ironic about getting closer to the finish line only to discover the starting point for an entirely new challenge. Maybe that’s the reality of building something meaningful. You never quite arrive. You just keep becoming capable of building what comes next.
The difficult part is that you can plan, budget, and prepare for what you believe lies ahead, but anticipating the needs of a future you haven’t reached is almost like predicting the future itself. The resources that got you this far might not be enough to take you where you need to go. And when the cost of the next step is far beyond anything you could have planned for, you can find yourself trapped between the vision you refuse to abandon and the reality of what it takes to bring it to life.
Wallets aren’t a part of the scaling issue.
It’s our applications. Backend servers. Imagine now 50,000 users, then telling them to “please be patient as we work on a fix.” I made this post to shed some light on the reality of things. All builders need funding, or when we finally have our chance, we might just blow it completely.

We’re cooked.
Shut the internet down.
BREAKING: OpenAI says it found a critical flaw in Brotli, a widely used compression library built into software like Node.js, Bun and Envoy.
The bug could let an attacker take over a system just by sending it malicious compressed data, with no login needed. That works both ways: a hacker could hijack an unpatched server, or a malicious server could hijack an unpatched user’s device.
