We considered many shapes for the Quint product. We experimented a lot. It's time to put something out into the world!

Which todo app are people using these days? I have to either spend some time automating stuff around org-mode or migrating to some app.
I'm thinking ticktick seems like a nice option, starting to experiment with it.
Any tips and pointers?

Leslie Lamport asks, “Who builds a house without drawing blueprints?” We ask, “Who chews a tree without listening for cracks?”
. @bugarela 's interview (youtube.com/watch?v=j-j6aGy-…) on @quint_lang . She's spot on addressing the issue of testing. With AI the main problem is convincing humans of the correctness of a certain software.

I wrote a post about the strange grief I'm feeling as LLMs take over more and more of parts of my job that used to evoke joy. My builder self is more excited than ever, and yet ...

Seems like the default Google Translate translation is now backed by LLMs. Do you know what this means?
Em-dashes.
It adds em-dashes to the translation.
Thats all we ever needed, wasn't it?

New TTFA episode is out! 🎙️
This time I sat down with Gabriella Mora, CEO of Quint, to talk about formal specifications, TLA+, temporal logic, and the increasingly important role of formal methods in the age of AI.
With AI generating more and more code, how can we make sure that the software we're building actually behaves as intended?
We also discuss the story behind Quint, how it compares to Alloy, and the challenges of teaching formal methods.
I think this is a particularly timely conversation given everything happening at the intersection of AI and formal verification.

2:10 Gabriela's path: from Tumblr themes to a TLA+ thesis
11:56 Quint and TLA+ vs. Alloy
15:05 Why write a spec? Understanding over checkmarks
22:04 How AI changes the economics of formal methods
27:19 Executable specs as the middle ground for AI-written code
36:13 Keeping spec and code in sync: codegen, model-based testing, trace validation

It was an honor to be hosted on this long-loved show and I had so much fun in the conversation!
Bonus: my cat was present for the entire episode.

I've been looking for something like this for years! Specially something that works well on the big screen. Will be trying this out 💜
so, i created this app/website where you can organize your days, journal about your memories while having fun decorating along the way! 🍀💫

The 3 and 5 litre jug puzzle needs no solver code in @quint_lang. You write the rules, claim "the big jug never holds 4 litres", and run the model checker.
It can't prove the claim. It returns the shortest counterexample instead: 6 moves that leave 4 litres in the big jug.
Saying some things to AI is similar to saying some things to animals: we do it more for us than for them.
I think that's pretty ok. Like saying sorry, it reduces effort on my side as that my natural thing to do.

I think I'm addicted to getting agents to build state machines
Every time I see an agent has built a state machine (or even just a reducer) I can feel a huge bump in the robustness
And I know that future updates will be trivial and testable
Would recommend for frontend

A Quint é uma linguagem open source de especificação executável. Com ela você descreve o comportamento do sistema e verifica se ele está certo antes que o bug chegue em produção.

@bugarela joins @RobbyRussell to talk about what happens when 800 tests still aren’t enough to trust your code.
They explore AI-generated tests, formal specifications, Quint, and why human judgment matters.
