Can someone explain to me how we ended up with a bot army of content farms who just make up stories about contractors so they can complain and pretend to be victims?
I genuinely don’t understand why contractors keep exploiting homeowners who need basic utility repairs.
I was quoted $1,800 to replace a standard 40-gallon residential hot water heater.
Actual unit costs $550 at Lowe's.
The copper fittings and pipe sealant take about $40 in raw materials.
Job takes two hours of labor for a standard swap.
You are charging $1,210 in labor for 120 minutes of work.

My bonus kids dad went on a bender so bad he missed his son's birthday, work, and everything else for weeks. Moved across the country with no notice "to get sober" and now we've got a 7 year old dealing with unbearable sadness and no way to understand whats happening.
When I started working for my boss, our maintenance route did maybe 50 or 60k annually. Now we do millions on maintenance. Starting my own business, I am dreaming about making that same leap.
