It’s after 11 pm, more than five hours after this school board meeting started. Only the hardiest remain. Night custodians left a while back.
It’s like the papal enclave except no one cares.
BREAKING: Hours before the PVD school board votes on ousting its president, the Morales transition team begins its search for two new board members.
These two appointed seats will become vacant anyway. This is the first election turnover since Pvd switched its board structure.
INBOX: @BrownUniversity will no longer ask Providence high schoolers to pay for an application. (Applies to public and charter school students.)
Pres. Paxson says it's one "additional step we can take to support local students thinking about attending Brown.”

Holy moly.
3.5 hours of PVD school board were largely spent arguing whether president Ty’Relle Stephens should step down.
3 senior administrators said Stephens’ leadership motivated their resignations.
Then the meeting… just… moved on. My report:

Btw @PatrickAnderso_ is now calling it the ‘commie corridor’
But I, who lived in Ridgewood, cannot get away with making such assertions.

How David Morales won:
Renters who voted early.
- Just 3 precincts on West Side / Fed Hill delivered a 1,445 vote advantage. Morales won by 1,343 votes.
- Winning a whopping 61% of the vote-share among Early Voters.
- Message discipline on the biggest issue. (ya, rent)
Morales is set up to become the youngest mayor in Providence history.
Joe Paolino was 29 y/o in 1984. Buddy Cianci was 33 in 1974.

The Associated Press has called the Providence mayoral race. David Morales is projected to win the Democratic primary in a jolt to the Democratic establishment.
The Smiley campaign is in Fox Point to await results, alongside members of a recently-completed, noticeably fragrant run club.
Morales is over in Olneyville, with a slew of progressive city councilors.
