Today we will meet with media from throughout California and guide them through the recently renovated San Diego California Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Soon, thousands will walk through the doors of the temple during an open house as we prepare for the August 23 rededication. It is an amazing blessing to see the Lord’s temples dotting the earth. I love the house of the Lord.

To all my San Diego friends. You are welcome to go tour the temple. It's a great experience!
The open house for the San Diego California Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints began on Monday, June 15, 2026, with a media day for journalists and invited guests. Doors will open to the public from June 18 through July 11, 2026 (excluding Sundays). The temple, which closed in 2023 for extensive renovation, will be dedicated on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 11 a.m. (rebroadcast at 2 p.m.). “The temple is the most sacred place on earth to us as members of the Church,” said Elder Neil L. Andersen @AndersenNeilL of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. “It is a place of holiness, of peace, of revelation, of receiving our answers to our prayers. It’s very, very important to us. It is a testament to us of the immortality of the soul.” Visit Church Newsroom to learn more. newsroom.churchofjesuschrist…

This was the best forum that I have been to ever. Such an inspiring person.
Today’s BYU forum will be given by Dr. Francis Collins, a physician-scientist who has served under three presidents as the director of the U.S. National Institutes of Health. Join the campus community in the Marriott Center at 11:05am or tune in via @BYUtv & @byuradio.

The big takeaway for today is that based on my research of the past 25 years, I can say—with mounds of evidence—that family is critically important. We need to make strong families a national priority. - Dr. Melissa Kearney #BYUDevo

whenever i review grants, I wish I could sit down and chat with the authors. Maybe go to a long lunch where they have bbq and a whiteboard. Science is so awesome, I just have too many questions.

would any scientific editors be interested in having students be 'replication and reproducibilty reviewers'? For any/every submission that involves computation, we have students take the publicly available source and attempt to reproduce the results in a manuscript. Thoughts?

I loved this devotional. “He does demand for us to participate. For us to do the thing that we don’t necessarily need Him for. So that He can do the thing that only He can do. The miracle part. He does involve us in the process. isn’t that so gracious of Him”
“The Chosen” creator Dallas Jenkins told Brigham Young University students on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, to embrace failure and trust in God’s plan for them. His forum message to a packed Marriott Center audience centered on his own experiences with failure. “Whether in failure or success, the message is the same: When you make your five loaves and two fish … and He deems it worthy of acceptance, the transaction is over,” he advised, urging them to find peace and purpose in their efforts, regardless of the outcome. “I implore you, starting now: Don’t wait until you’re in your 40s [like I am] for God to break you down and bring you to your knees in surrender. Starting now, get to this place — this superpower, actually — that comes from giving that up to God. It is not your job to feed the 5,000; it is only to provide the loaves and fish.” Visit the link to learn more, newsroom.churchofjesuschrist…

One of the most demanding and most rewarding parts of my job is teaching our Bioinformatics Capstone. The course is an experiential learning opportunity for undergraduate students to do real science. That requires me to create 6-8 real projects every year. /1

Projects have to be real - not rehashs of something pubished, not trivial projects with a assured answer in a homework key, and realistically fun science that can be done in one semester. /2

Students work in teams. so in addition to the intellectually expanding work of science, they also have to learn the soft skills of working in teams. Delegation, communication, compassion. /3
