CSUN wins 6-2, and sweeps the weekend series against UCSD.
The Matadors have no games next weekend, but will be hosting two games the following weekend against Fresno State and UCLA.

Story Time: Buckle up for this one.
Patient called today pissed off. They weren’t pissed at me, more so pissed at their insurance company @DevotedHealth and @CVSHealthPBM
For the past month, @DevotedHealth has been pestering them about switching their medications over to their mail order @CVSHealthPBM
First it was atorvastatin and Jardiance, because they said the patient would have “cheaper” copays.
The patient called us to verify those prices.
Our prices were identical to what they would have paid at mail order.
Patient told @CVSHealthPBM NO!
They wanted to stay local.
A few days later, patient gets a message from @CVSHealthPBM stating they had two prescriptions waiting to be sent to the patient. Just needed the go ahead to mail them out.
It was for the same 2 prescriptions they had said no to a few days prior.
Patient called them back and told them no, they want to continue getting them locally…. That was the end of it.
Until today…
Patient called back and said now @CVSHealthPBM has another prescription for metformin ready for me and has already mailed it out.
It’s a prescription we have been filling at our independent pharmacy all of this calendar year at a $0 copay.
Patient told them, I didn’t authorize you to get this prescription ready for me at mail order, how did you receive the prescription?
@CVSHealthPBM told them that their Dr. had authorized a new prescription for them.
Patient calls their Dr.
Dr. states they never sent a prescription to mail order @CVSHealthPBM
So, let me sum this up and put a nice little bow on it for you:
@CVSHealthPBM requested a new prescription from patient’s Dr. without their consent.
@CVSHealthPBM prepared the new prescription for patient without their consent.
And finally, @CVSHealthPBM mailed out the prescription for the patient without their consent.
I don’t know who is ultimately at fault for this, but it’s damn sure not the patient…
The patient keeps saying NO, but @CVSHealthPBM says we don’t give a shit, we’re going to do it anyway.

Recalled Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao’s federal bribery trial starts next week. She is facing 95 years in prison.
On October 13, jury selection begins in Oakland. Opening statements follow. The case is expected to run about six weeks. Thao, her ex-boyfriend Andre Jones, and California Waste Solutions executives David and Andy Duong have all pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutors say the deal was cut before she ever took the oath. The Duongs would finance attack mailers against Loren Taylor and Ignacio De La Fuente and put Jones on a $300,000 no-show job at Evolutionary Homes. In return, Thao would commit Oakland to buying their shipping container housing, extend their recycling contract, and help install people they chose in city jobs.
When it became clear she was going to win, Mario Juarez texted Andy Duong, “So we may go to jail. But we are $100 million richer.” Duong answered, “Money buys everything.”
The payments to Jones started after that. The group discussed raising his cut toward $3 million if Oakland bought 300 units. Prosecutors say Thao proposed using emergency powers so the city could skip a normal bid. She later pressed the city administrator to put Larry Gallegos in housing even though he lacked the experience for the job.
Juarez was in the room when the deal was made. He pleaded guilty and is expected to walk the jury through what Thao agreed to and what she got in return. Bryan Azevedo pleaded guilty in a related case and is set to testify too. Staffers are expected to say they heard Thao tell David Duong that if the Vietnam reporting came out, she could no longer work with him.
Oakland voted her out by a majority. Next week the people who paid for that term will get to tell a jury what they purchased. – at Oakland, CA

BREAKING: Binghui Liu a citizen of China—living in California pending his asylum application!—pleaded guilty today to a money laundering conspiracy.
In this evil scheme, individuals posing as federal officers contacted victims and falsely claimed that criminal charges had been filed against them and that their bank accounts would be frozen.
The scammers, operating both inside and outside the United States, instructed victims to withdraw their savings in cash and surrender the money “for safekeeping.” Victims were told that a federal official would arrive to collect the cash. The scammers used fake names, code words, and directed the victims to take pictures of themselves and the cash packaged for pickup.
Over approximately two months, Liu took approximately $597,100 from 24 victims throughout California and Nevada.
He will now be sentenced for his crimes, thanks to the diligent work work of @EDNYnews and @FBI.

We just arrested a Chinese foreign agent at LAX attempting to depart for China.
Wanying Zhang, aka “Heather,” 34, of Irvine, was arrested today by @FBILosAngeles on a federal complaint charging her with acting as an unregistered agent of the People’s Republic of China.
According to the affidavit, Zhang traveled to Seattle in 2025 and, at the direction of PRC officials, surveilled a close relative of a Taiwanese government official, sending photos, videos, and license plate information to those officials.
She coordinated the trip with an associate and used tradecraft to avoid detection. She never notified the Attorney General she was acting for a foreign government, a federal offense.
She will appear in federal court in Los Angeles tomorrow for her initial appearance. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
