Back in 1998 the California Thoroughbred Trainers board set out to develop a non-profit organization to enhance the lives of the hard-working backstretch workers and their families, @calgregson, after the late veteran trainer Eddie Gregson. Today they provide scholarships for the children of backstretch workers.
“Thursday a subset of the board met,” says board member Tom Reynolds, “and we’re granting nearly $400,000 in scholarships to the backstretch workers’ kids for the upcoming school year.”

Investing in the next generation means investing in the future of the racing community.
For Kailey Vasquez, support from @calgregson has helped shape her education, career goals and future. A lifelong member of a racing family, Kailey recently earned her Bachelor’s degree in Public Health and is now pursuing her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse.

There have been no greater friends to the Gregson Foundation than Joe and Barbara Harper. Not a retirement, but a time to relax and smell the roses. Thank you both for your generosity and support throughout the years. Enjoy! 🥂💚🩵

🎳🏆 We close out our inaugural Spring 2026 Bowling League games just in time for the summer move to Del Mar. League play started in April, and competition was fun and fierce, but bursting with camaraderie!
Francisco Alvarado from Richard Mandella’s barn was our highest scorer, with a very close 2nd by Hilario Medina (@PhilDamato11), and 3rd by Andres Mora (@oneill_racing). A special Thank You to jovial jockey Jose Dominguez for helping with the award presentations.
Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you to everyone that participated! The League was great fun, and we look forward to sponsoring another round soon! 🥳🌅

👩🏻🎓🩺🏥 Meet Kailey V., a recent graduate from CSU Fullerton with a degree in Public Health. Kailey says, “my family and I want to thank the EJGF Scholarship Fund and its many donors for everything you have done to help me complete my degree. I could not have done it without your help and for that we are forever grateful.”
Her brother Diego, a past EJGF scholarship grant recipient, graduated from CSU San Bernardino in 2021, with a degree in Business Administration, and a minor in Psychology.
What a tremendous family and we are beyond excited for the future.
Good luck, Kailey! We are all so proud of you! 💚🩵
