Last night my son and I were watching Outcast and he pointed out the two people trying to make a bowdrill fire. He says, "look they need help. Guess who didn't need help? " Me was taking about me. When he hears others tell him his mom is a badass. And that's what I think of when I see this mother/ friend's birthday party discourse. A good mother is not one who neglects herself for her children, but shows a strong, resilient, capable example. "If mom can do that, so can I." And that's the kind of mom I want to be. Not one that is a martyr.
