How time flies in rhinoland! Two years ago, Chamboi was just a tiny new rescue, swaddled in his cherry red blanket. He has grown a lot over the past 18 months – but even still, his journey with us is just beginning.
Right now, we're in the nurturing phase: his Keepers are a constant presence, providing day-and-night care, from pampering mud baths to prepared meals.
When he is a bit older, we will begin the complex rewilding into Tsavo's wild populations. Follow Chamboi's journey, learn more about him and how you can adopt him at: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/o…
We went to Organ Pipe National Monument. We asked the rangers for the best time of day to visit Quitobaqito. We were told that morning is good for bird watching, but any time is pretty good, and no matter what time we go we'll probably see this one grebe.
Here is a blurry grebe.

Sadness is a downpour—it arrives without asking, soaking through our defenses in seconds. Joy is a garden—it must be planted seed by seed, watered with intention, weeded of doubt, and fiercely guarded against the storms that would drown it. This labor of cultivating light when shadows press in from every side isn't merely an act of self-preservation. It's a revolution. When we claim joy in defiance of despair, when we insist on blooming in barren soil, we become more than survivors—we become architects of hope for everyone who witnesses our defiance. Our joy doesn't just lift us—it becomes a ladder for others climbing out of their own darkness.

This winter, I brought to life something that has lived in my imagination for years—the first annual print edition of The Gurdeep Magazine. It features writing from other contributors alongside my own work. If you feel called to hold this warmth of printed words in your hands, visit Gurdeep.ca/magazine.

October is Window Covering Safety Month.

ALT Window blinds that look like a tentacle monster with glowing yellow eyes. It is very menacing and deadly. The text reads: are your kids living with corded window blinds? Window cord injuries vary from scars around the neck, to quadriplegia and permanent brain damage. On average, 8 young children a year die from strangling in window covering cords. If you have kids, go cordless. Cordless window blinds are safest for kids and in stores now.

July 20th, 1969 is a date that stands high in my life – it was the day that we, together as one people, achieved the greatest scientific and technological feat in human history. The specific role that Neil, Mike and I performed in the event was but one part of an immeasurably larger effort – not just for our nation, but for all mankind. As I look back on what we accomplished 55 years ago, I am still inspired by what we all saw and did – the best of America and the best of humanity. Thank you for the privilege and the honor of serving you, and for being part of this exciting and wonderous journey with me. #Apollo11
I don't post here enough anymore to know or care where my earworm thread went, but my current earworm, for no good reason, is a Phantom of the Opera medley.
All of them. They're all wearing blue.
Happy St. Patrick's Day, Star Trek fans!

On February 26th, 2014 I became a US citizen. Ten years later, I feel some kind of way about it. I'm not sure which way.

All-natural Asbestos from an ultramafic exposure in Baja. More proof that the word "natural" is functionally meaningless, especially when used on food packaging. If you mixed this asbestos into a jar of peanut butter, the contents inside would still technically be "all-natural".
How do advertisers around here feel about the fact that half of the replies to their ads are other ads?
I'm glad most sites don't look like this obnoxious Verge article? theverge.com/c/23998379/goog… (don't actually go there, it's bad). It's a pain to read this type of crap, so I didn't really try. I wanted to grab a quote to put here about accessibility, but... yeah, fuck it, nvm.
As the owner of tiffanyblueisgreen.com, I have opinions on greenish and bluish things. Those uniforms are both blue. The left is obviously blue. The right is borderline, but not *quite* green enough to not be blue. I'd call it teal blue.
