If ceasing to kill 10 children every hour would “amount to a surrender,” it might be worth asking what exactly you are fighting for.

Remembering what happened to New Orleans during Katrina is what we owe to the dead & the living. @chrisdier remembers. See his essential thread below. ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ ATTN @wingedisis @RichardScheinin @johnedwinmason @RevMelanieNOLA
On the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina (8/29), I’m reminded of not only the destruction of my home/community, but also that the experience helped radicalize me. I was 17 at the time. These events below, personally & systemic, shook my perspective & shaped my worldview.

In this time of savage economic inequalities in American life, if your organization can't figure out how not to willfully cross striking workers, there isn't a fucking thing you can tell me about political science that I need to take seriously. Never cross a picket line.

saying “i am bad at this” -defeatist -will make you sad -removes the possibility for improvement saying “a whale would be impressed by my ability” -encouraging -always true because whales don’t even have thumbs and also appreciate effort -makes you think about whales – at Buffalo, NY

I was fortunate enough to get a private screening of the film, Killers of the Flower Moon earlier this month. Having been marginally released from my NDA with the premiere of the film today at Cannes, I have a few thoughts.
