Holding down staff pay 'to protect the service' is no different from introducing a special NHS tax that's only paid by NHS employees.
We do not have a unique responsibility to fund the healthcare system. It falls on everyone, and SHOULD fall fairly.

Spire Hospital sponsored what now

Spire Nottingham Hospital has confirmed that it has withdrawn its sponsorship of the Quorn Hunt's Ingarsby Chase following serious allegations arising from drone footage filmed by @NhantsHuntsabs.
In an email sent today, 20 October, the hospital stated:
"𝗜𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗤𝘂𝗼𝗿𝗻 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝘁, 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗵𝗮𝗺 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗻 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗯𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲."
This follows our exposé this morning showing Quorn Hunt staff repeatedly encouraging hounds to seize and tear at a fox, before pushing the body underneath hay bales after one of the terriermen spotted the drone.
Whilst the withdrawal is welcome, 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗤𝘂𝗼𝗿𝗻 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲?
The Quorn Hunt's history includes a 2022 conviction for illegal hunting involving one of its huntsmen. That information was already in the public domain and could have found out with a quick Google search.

Updating the state recognition of Taiwan page on wikipedia to include Greater Lincolnshire
This morning, I signed a landmark trade agreement with Tainan in Taiwan, strengthening ties between our regions and creating new opportunities for trade, investment and innovation.
Greater Lincolnshire has a huge amount to offer, and this agreement is another step towards showing the world what we do best. 🇹🇼 🇬🇧
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
UK mayors cannot sign binding international trade agreements (reserved for central UK government); official descriptions refer to this as a non-binding MOU for local cooperation, not a landmark trade deal.

Side rooms are a precious resource, needed for actual medical reasons. That should be non-disputable.
Insisting transgender people are forced into them because of the endless culture war bullshit will harm trans and non-trans patients alike.
Who could have predicted that the fantastical notions of the NHSE guidance would immediately crash headfirst into the reality of bed management.
Absolutely wild to see so many people claiming that medical outliers 1) don't happen and 2) don't cause measurable harm if they do.
It's not actually the transphobia that disgusts me the most about this NHSE bullshit.
It's the implication that nurses up until now have been unwilling or unable to protect the dignity and safety of *all* of our patients.
Singling out a trans person in a mixed sex unit is saying the quiet part louder than you're supposed to babes
Mentioned this in a lecture the other week and the non-expert, mostly non-trans students took approximately three seconds to identify roughly one million logistical impossibilities this would cause if followed
(which it can't be)
