London stocks ended a difficult week lower on Friday, with the FTSE 100 falling 0.3% as surging oil prices, renewed Middle East tensions and concerns over artificial intelligence investment weighed on investor sentiment. The FTSE 100 declined 34.67 points to close at 10,690.36, while the FTSE 250 edged 0.1% higher to 24,237.39. The AIM All-Share fell 0.6% to 746.67.

London stocks ended lower on Tuesday, although the FTSE 100 recovered from heavier earlier losses. The FTSE 100 fell 31.69 points, or 0.3%, to close at 10,733.00, having traded as low as 10,673.02 earlier in the session. The FTSE 250 declined 0.1% to 24,364.76, while the AIM All-Share dropped 0.7% to 762.93.
Brent crude fell to $106.65 a barrel by the London close, having reached $111.20 earlier in the day, following an unconfirmed report that Qatar and Pakistan had proposed a framework for renewed negotiations between the United States and Iran.

Shares in @ecrminerals (AIM #ECR) have fallen to around 0.14p, near their 52-week low, despite a series of announcements pointing to operational progress across its Australian gold projects. For investors, the question is whether the weakness reflects justified concerns about the company's prospects or an opportunity being overlooked by the market.
The timing is particularly interesting. ECR is approaching a potentially important milestone at its Maddens gold project in Queensland, where underground development is advancing and a newly commissioned processing plant is ready for operation. The company's latest update, confirmed plans to process stockpiled material before the end of the month, followed by main production ore in November.
