I have created @bPlantOrg, a twitter for bplant.org which is an ecology-focused plant website, with an emphasis on ecoregions. Please follow if you're interested in plants, ecology, and the like, and want to learn about this stuff and support this project!

In other news, it's still time to replace Biden, and there's still enough time. New from A.B. Stoddard: thebulwark.com/p/the-case-to…
I now have had a broken washer from @SpeedQueenHome for nearly a full month. Servicer came out and replaced the door sensor, it's still broken. Now we need to wait 7-10 days, a second time, for another part. The company doesn't even have the decency of answering the phone.
I tried calling @SpeedQueenHome today around 40 minutes before their supposed closing time (4PM EST) and they said that they were closed and their system just hung up on me. More disappointment, but not surprising. I feel so cheated having bought a washer from this brand.

A problem with PennDOT is Philly's district office is located within King of Prussia sprawl.
Boston and NYC get it right: departments that serve a premier city should be within that city.
How will people who live and drive in KoP know how best to spend billions in Philly?

Why do 'booming' American towns struggle to budget for basic services? Look to the suburban development pattern.

Trump exhausted every legal avenue available to him to overturn the election, but the legal path just took him back to the truth: that I won the election—and he lost.
And how can a company that treats people as badly as @SpeedQueenHome treated me, while selling a product costing 3x that of the competition, stay in business? I don't want to buy from a brand that is in a death spiral. The last thing I want is an unserviceable machine.
Another thing I don't get about @SpeedQueenHome: the service tech didn't do anything to diagnose the problem that I couldn't have done over the phone. I waited 12 days for an appointment, but now I have to wait another 7-10 for a part. Why wasn't that part ordered ahead of time?
If @SpeedQueenHome were a quality brand, they would have fewer warranty service requests, and the revenue to adequately staff their call center and pay their service contractors well. No 2 hour hold+wait times. Their reps would be legit surprised & apologetic in cases like mine.
The most frustrating thing about @SpeedQueenHome is that everything about my experience with them has suggested to me that the company either doesn't care, or is completely drowning in service requests and unable to provide even the most basic customer service.
Also in an underhanded technique, when I filed a BBB complaint, @SpeedQueenHome made an automatic reply saying someone would contact me (no one has), probably hoping I would forget about it and it would time out and mark "resolved" by default.
I feel cheated by @SpeedQueenHome. Bought a washer that cost 3x the competition, marketed on its reputation for quality, but it broke after 6 months of use. My experience trying to get service has been hellish, with SQ repeatedly over-promising and under-delivering.
This is so sad, I really wish we could empower transit and invest in transit instead of just wasting money on roadbuilding that is less efficient and less sustainable.

Europe has a much lower traffic death rate than America. It’s not because Europeans are simply less-error prone.
It’s due to decades of policy choices to make unsafe roads that prioritize speed over safety, combined with the danger posed by large SUVs and trucks
This is awful.
“Nearly 43,000 people died in U.S. traffic crashes in 2021, the highest number in 16 years”
Almost all due to human error.
This is what motivates us to work with urgency at @cruise.

Understanding plants' habitat preferences holds the key to just about any work involving plants, whether ecological restoration or other conservation work, gardening, or landscaping. Our latest blog post serves both as an introduction and reference: bplant.org/blog/27

Wow, we're on a roll, we just interlinked our site with @MDBiodiversity which is an unparallelled resource for the distribution of organisms (not just plants) in the state of Maryland. This site also addresses a key gap in USDA and BONAP data. 2,947 pages linked!

We just interlinked our site with the Missouri Plants website: missouriplants.com/
For all linked records, the page on our site will now include a link to the corresponding record on Missouri Plants. This website is a great resource for wild plants in Missouri.

Our latest blog post summarizes our successes of 2022 and goals for 2023. We've also published our 2022 financial statement. We got a ton done, also had some fundraising successes, but are still far from our mid-term financial goals: bplant.org/blog/26

These are cars in my neighborhood. @SecretaryPete a Rhodes scholar, says we need more research to know whether being hit in the head and torso by something that weighs 4 tons is worse than being hit in the legs by something that weighs 2 tons. These cars are *designed* to kill.
