A thread about using color as a design tool in science presentations. Color is a great tool to separate different categories of information, to highlight information, or to establish an emotional tone. 🧵1/20
We were recently discussing design aspects of presentations, so retweeting this (and another thread from @iamscicomm) with a tip of the hat to @KWhiteheadLab, whose feed brought them to my attention.
Sharing these pubs is way overdue, but I wanted to share @GregGrewal's work with hydrogel nanofibers--both a review of work in the field and his work incorporating spatiotemporally controlled signals into these systems in collaboration with Vince Gray in @rachel_letteri's group.
Greg's review: pubs.rsc.org/en/content/arti…
... and his work using photopatterned coiled-coil peptide complexes to reversibly present cell-instructive cues in hydrogel biomaterials: pubs.rsc.org/en/content/arti…

And here I was thinking all the guns were to OPPOSE an undemocratic government with a tyrannical leader who would use misinformation and lies to try to control what we think and do.
Currently, this is what I'm thinking is interesting about the election:
1) democracy defined: control of an organization or group by the majority of its members
2) + 4 MILLION votes for 1 candidate nationally. MILLIONS + MILLIONS
3) outcome undecided
Congrats, Steven and Caliari Lab. Looking forward to seeing you keep pushing out boundaries. @Caliari_Lab
Very proud of Prof. Steven Caliari! Great job getting a Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award from the NIH’s @NIGMS. The @Caliari_Lab is doing incredible work in biomaterials and tissue engineering. at.virginia.edu/3oVQgYu

How is this new paper in Advanced Materials different? doi.org/10.1002/adma.2020018… changes a fundamental which unlocks geometric freedom for melt electrowriting. Instead of direct-writing fibers directly on top of each other, the fiber-on-fiber position can be controlled....

This graph is amazing. It shows that measuring #SARSCoV2 levels in municipal sewage almost perfectly predicts forthcoming #COVID19 cases with a full week's notice (R=0.994). It's one of several discoveries in this new study from @Yale: medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/…. C-19 is #InThePoop
