Ireland has a chance to shape its own pathway for carbon management. On 3 November, we'll be in Cork to help start that conversation.
Across Europe, industrial carbon management is moving from planning to deployment. For Ireland, carbon capture, CO₂ transport, and permanent storage could help tackle hard-to-abate industrial emissions. They could also enable carbon dioxide removal (CDR), alongside deep emissions cuts, on the path to climate neutrality.
Our Associate Policy Analyst, Rozarah Glenane, will present on Ireland's potential for carbon removal: where it could come from, and what it would take to deliver it.
The programme will also feature:
• Irish case studies from the cement and bio-based sectors
• A look at the infrastructure, regulation, and policy needed to move forward
The event is organised by Carbon Management Europe, ClonBio Group Ltd., and Cement Manufacturers Ireland, and hosted by Munster Technological University at Blackrock Castle. It is an official associated event of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, supported by Clean Air Task Force, Philip Lee LLP, Carbon Gap, and Carbon Dioxide Removal Ireland.

🌊 How can Europe unlock marine carbon removal without getting ahead of the science?
On 5 November in Brussels, we're presenting a new roadmap for two novel marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) methods:
• Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement (OAE), which adds alkaline materials to seawater so the ocean absorbs more CO2
• Direct Ocean Carbon Capture and Storage (DOCCS), which removes CO2 directly from seawater and stores it
The European Commission is now considering whether to bring approaches like OAE and DOCCS into the EU's Carbon Removals and Carbon Farming Regulation (CRCF).
Europe faces two risks. If it rushes ahead, it builds on science that is still developing. If it waits, it stalls the research and field tests these methods need. Our roadmap sets out how to balance the two.

Fresh news from our portfolio: 890 tonnes of CO₂ bought from Brineworks and Sirona Technologies!
They are two of the eight suppliers in @salesforce's latest carbon removal round via @milkywire (3,661 tonnes in total), close to a quarter of the round and two of the four direct air capture deals in it.
@Brineworks pairs electrochemical #DAC with green hydrogen co-production. @SironaTechCDR is building the world's first heat pump integration on a commercial DAC project. A buyer at this scale funding the first technical steps is a good sign for durable #carbon removal.
