If you're frustrated with parents on zoom, give them something specific to help their child with. It makes the world of difference and there are beautiful things that will come of it.
One thing I appreciate about @eaepanthers is that PDs consist of using things as Ts as a practice for using it with our own Ss... using @padlet today for RI3.1 asking questions before/during/after a close reading!

Dear Students Who Don't Like Being On Camera,
I see you. I know you don't like turning it on. And I'm not going to ask you. When you are ready, shine bright. I'll be here to cheer you on.
Love Your Teacher
Just in case anyone needs a doc camera for zoom ...... get an old (or cheap) makeup compact ... put the mirror over your camera & it projects what's underneath :) you're welcome!
Shoutout to my Ss' families! They are amazing and I'm so blessed to work with them again this year!!!!
There are ways to make sure Ss are participating on zoom without having their cameras on. THERE ARE WAYS Ss CAN SHOW PARTICIPATION WITHOUT THEIR CAMERAS BEING ON! 👏🏿👏🏾👏🏽👏🏼👏🏻 why is this even a thing?

Don’t tell our students or teachers that they have to turn their screens on during zoom meetings for virtual learning. It’s intrusive and imperialistic. #screensoff You don’t even need to acknowledge it if someone has a screen off. Don’t try to bust them out. Let them be.
