Is this real life? I have an essay up @CatapultStory today about being a slower reader and why (as a writer) that's perfectly okay 💕 Also doubles as my love letter to audiobooks 🥰 catapult.co/dont-write-alone…

I am not religious but one of my favourite parts of the Bible is when Jesus didn't tell women to cover up, he told men to gouge out their own eyes if they couldn't control themselves

Bradley Whitford: “We live in a country that has internment camps. As of July 2026, there are 65,756 human beings in detention camps. There are 6,200 children who have been detained since Trump took office. Trump’s promise was to go after the worst of the worst, yet only 3% of those detained have a violent felony conviction. These are not criminals in internment camps. These are human beings, many of whom were in the middle of going through what they thought was the legal process to become citizens”

This sweet child is not a criminal or a threat to anyone. Refusing to give her medication and holding her like this is just cruelty beyond belief.

I've heard directly from hundreds of children at Dilley. One young girl who shared her story with me grew up in the United States and her stepfather is a U.S. citizen. She said that the guards are mean to her, she is afraid, and that she is worried she will die in detention. She has been in Dilley for over 120 days. Her and Liam’s stories are one of thousands. What the Trump admin is doing to our children is depraved and unconscionable. Dilley must close. #FreeOurChildren

DHS is holding children at an immigrant detention center with insufficient food and medicine.
These are not the criminals that Trump promised to get off our streets. These are children.

Today, Sandra Bland would have been 39 years old.
Sandra was a civil rights activist who used her platform “Sandy Speaks” to speak truth about police violence and systemic injustice. She had just been hired as a community outreach coordinator at Prairie View A&M University, ready to serve her community and make a difference.
On July 10, 2015, Sandra was pulled over for a minor traffic violation in Prairie View, Texas. During that traffic stop, Texas state trooper Brian Encinia escalated the encounter, forcibly removed her from her vehicle, and arrested her. He claimed she assaulted him. She was charged with felony assault on a public servant and taken to Waller County jail.
Three days later, she was found dead in her jail cell. Officials ruled her death a suicide, but her family knew Sandra. They knew her spirit, her strength, and her future. They rejected that ruling. What happened to her was murder.
Sandra’s death ignited the #SayHerName movement and forced Texas to pass the Sandra Bland Act, mandating police de-escalation training and mental health protections in jails. Her name became a rallying cry for accountability.
We remember Sandra today, not as a statistic, but as a sister, an activist, and a fighter whose voice demanded justice. Her legacy lives in every protest, every reform, and every person who refuses to stay silent.
Say her name. Sandra Bland.
Rest in power. ✊🏾

"A 2-year-old boy was breastfeeding in detention. One 6-year-old boy had leukemia. An 8-year-old girl began wetting the bed. A 14-year-old girl engaged in self-harm...None of these children or their parents had a criminal history anywhere in the world."

A 5-year-old is not the “worst of the worst.”
ICE used Liam as bait and then shipped him to a Texas detention center.
Now, his health is deteriorating because the detention center’s conditions are so inhumane and appalling. Liam must be released.
NEW: Liam Conejo Ramos, the 5-year-old who ICE agents in Minneapolis nabbed last week and shipped off to a Texas detention facility with his dad, is now in poor health, his school superintendent told me today huffpost.com/entry/liam-cone…
Cristi Donoso (she, ella) retweeted
Liam misses his mother and his schoolmates. All of the children at the Dilley detention center long for the lives that were ripped away from them. No child should be in a place like this.
Cristi Donoso (she, ella) retweeted
RT if you demand for this little boy, Liam Conejo Ramos to be released from the ICE detention facility in Texas he’s still being held at. This is wrong.
Cristi Donoso (she, ella) retweeted
Liam is only five, he is not in good health, and he keeps asking for his classmates. No child should ever be in ICE detention. This is cruel and inhumane. Liam and his dad need to be released now.

A 5-year-old child should be going home after preschool, not sleeping in detention. We are calling on DHS to release Liam and his father now. #BringLiamHome
