FIP-101 Update: Community Feedback & Next Steps
Thanks to everyone who shared feedback on FIP-101. 🧡 We carefully reviewed every comment - most centered on the why and how behind the proposal.
To address these, we’ve prepared a response letter outlining the motivation and design rationale:

Overall, feedback to the proposal has been positive, with strong support to move forward quickly and no major objections to the design and mechanism. We’re excited to confirm that we’re proceeding with the proposal. 🌠

By the end of this week, we’ll publish the full proposal, including:
- Activation height & timeline
- Technical specification
- Participation criteria
We’re currently targeting Feb 10 to activate staking nodes for the indexing system. Testnet staking will roll out progressively after that - more updates coming soon.
📘 FIP-101: Fractal Standard Data Indexing Service
FIP-101 proposes the Fractal Standard Data Indexing Service—a standardized, open-source, and permissionless data indexing system maintained by Fractal's core contributors and integrated into Fractal's block reward mechanism to ensure long-term, incentivized data availability across the ecosystem.
Key points:
🔸 Adjusts block reward distribution without changing the total supply. From the current 1:2 Merged Mining: Permissionless Mining to three equal proportions:
- Merged Mining: 1
- Permissionless Mining: 1
- Data Indexing: 1
🔸 Standardized data output provides developers with consistent, reliable data structures across all supported protocols.
🔸 Non-custodial staking mechanism built on Taproot scripting—users can stake FB to indexers, earn rewards proportional to their stake, while operators collect service fees. All funds remain under user's control.
