Forty two forty
The American Library Association has listed 4240 books that are targeted for censorship.
I think anyone banning a book should be asked to provide a list of books they've read and, quizzed to confirm they know the basic plot or arguments in each book.

“I lost my child today.
People came to weep and cry, as I just sat and stared, dry eyed. They struggled to find words to say, to try and make the pain go away. I walked the floor in disbelief, I lost my child today.
I lost my child last month.
Most of the people went away, some still call and some still stay. I wait to wake up from this dream. This can't be real. I want to scream. Yet everything is locked inside, God, help me, I want to die. I lost my child last month.
I lost my child last year.
Now people who had come, have gone. I sit and struggle all day long to bear the pain, so deep inside and now my friends just question. Why? Why does this mother not move on? Just sits and sings the same old song. Good heavens, it has been so long. I lost my child last year.
Time has not moved on for me. The numbness it has disappeared. My eyes have now cried many tears.
I see the look upon your face,
"She must move on and leave this place."
Yet I am trapped right here in time. The songs the same, as is the rhyme. I lost my child ......Today.”

What is China?
When the goal is to demonize China, people use the word “communist.”
However, if the topic is China’s success, people will say China is capitalist!
Fact is China is a hybrid system that has no proper phrase in English.
I prefer the term “industrial socialism,” a model successfully implemented by Germany in the late 19th century.
Chinese say it’s “Socialism with Chinese characteristics.”
Some Americans like the term “state capitalism.”
What matters is how the system functions:
The CPC - “CCP” in American jargon - is a powerful party that manages the mission and vision of the country.
But it’s the smart technocrats who devise the specific policies.
There is vibrant entrepreneurship and free market, but directed and kept in check by the party/technocrats.
In American capitalism, the capital (money) has too much power over all institutions.
In China, money is subjugated like a wild tiger in a safari park. Enough freedom within limits.
Rather than getting fixated on words, we should objectively focus on features and outcomes.

Hello @straczynski
Reading one of your books and had a strange thought cross my mind.
Is it better to discuss a story with the author or with someone else who has seen the work?
Does omniscience ruin the conversation?
Would you rather talk about your work or someone else's?
