Punching my trad card today…the great altar rail rescue begins. My friend Eric, historic preservationist extraordinaire, taking on the project alongside other parishioners. They’ve been hanging out in the basement for years.
Saw this on here a few years ago and have no idea who wrote it, but I still think of it all the time. The last lines are a thing of beauty.

Someone could probably write a book (if they haven’t already) about the cycle of technology productizing the removal of friction in the name of convenience only for us to discover that the friction was a load-bearing part of the social compact.
Someone told me he thinks dating apps are bad because they let you access connection without having any motion in your life. Normally meeting people requires going out into the world, entering new scenes and navigating unfamiliar situations. You have to be living a life that brings you into contact with other people. Dating apps let you order connection without doing any of that work
Two things are true: we lost that game five times over through earlier mistakes. And we were also robbed of a final chance in a way that is so completely unacceptable that no one can deny it.
After much work by my friend Eric (and many friends), the grand opening of St. Joseph’s Pub in his converted garage. Looking forward to seeing the space grow and evolve
